Please understand everyone is different. Sometimes it is how much pain can
a person tolerate. My sister and husband, none at all, they become quivering
lumps of people at a hangnail. I tolerate quite a bit more before I begin
to think I need a doctor. So part of it is individual. That being said,
after the mouth heals from the teeth being pulled, the dentures should not hurt
if they fit properly.
My first day I came home with temps in and on good pain meds. The second
day I had to pull the lowers out because they were rubbing some stitches. By
day four I had to pull the tops out because it hurt and I knew I shouldn't
but I just could not handle it any longer. The fifth day was Monday morning
and I tried putting the lowers back in and just cried it hurt so badly.
Called the dentist and they had me come right in. He had to fit the lowers
back
in to check the fit and tears were running. He did some adjusting and slipped
them back in with me cringing in fear. It didn't hurt! If felt comfortable
and I could smile!
It's mostly in the adjusting that the fit is proper to alleviate pain. If
something hurts, something doesn't fit right.
Stay in contact with your dentist. Call them every day if you need to in
order to be heard and taken care of. Dentures aren't cheap and you deserve for
them to fit properly, temps or perms.
