Re: [Denture_Dentures] Re: HAD IT DONE! Jonell

The print out I received before leaving says, "Keep head slightly elevated
during the first 48 hours." So far I don't have any swelling or any pain
either. The denture isn't entirely in my proper position though..and I feel it
slipping a bit. Good thing I'm going to see the OS today. I don't think it
will stay in my mouth until I see my normal dentist on Monday. I'm definitely
changing the shape of the teeth. I had selected a tapered shape, but my face
is oval and I think square will look a lot better. Right now it seems I
have little teeth with a lot of gums - LOL Rita

Your welcome....I dont ever remember being reminded of the propping. I
know it wasnt in writing but maybe he mentioned it when I was just
coming out of it, who knows LOL...yes do not take the dentures out
they will give you further instructions tomorrow...I am sure they will
take them out for you tomorrow just make sure they put them back in
before you leave the office!!! That was the huge mistake that my oral
surgeon made...he took them out on day 6 (keep in mind I had no follow
up appt with anyone til a week out and no one told me what to expect
or when to see them next or when to take my dentures out) So I waited
a few days cause I was in so much pain and knew that I had stitches so
I didnt want to take the chance of tearing the stitches but when I
tried to get them out on day 3 they wouldnt budge and then I called my
dentist who was on vacation and expected back the next day...so I go
in on day 4 and he called in sick!!! same thing on day 5 and then
finally on day 6 I got a hold of the surgeons office and they told me
to come up there....it is quite a drive. I cried so hard when he
pulled the dentures out...it was so painful (only cause they were in
for 6 days without being removed for a second) well the oral surgeon
wanted to relieve me from pain but didnt think about the longterm
consequences.consequences.<WBR>..he told me to keep them out overnight
dentist the next day for adjustments.dentist the next day for adjustment
quite a bit and we still couldnt get them back in my mouth!!! It was 6
weeks until they finally went back in cause the swelling was so
bad...so whatever you do even though you are only on day 1 please make
sure he puts the dentures back in your mouth....or better yet try
doing it yourself right in his office cause the first time I had to
put my dentures in I wasnt sure if I was doing it right LOL...Good
Luck and let me know it goes tomorrow (today) LOL Jonell
