Hello. I'm Kelisha!
Thanks to state insurance's policy of not paying for gum disease
treatment, I opted to have the bad teeth pulled. I have 5 teeth
left - the top front two, and the right bottom front and the two next
to it. Then I went to a family friend who is a dentist, who fit me
for dentures. Unfortunately, with family friends, he is not good at
explaining to me what to do with them. Perhaps if I gave him more
money... His nurse wears dentures, and told me to just wear them.
Just wear them for about three days, so they would adjust to my mouth
and vice versa. There's some soreness, but nothing out of the
ordinary. She told me to just wear them. He gave me a tiny tube of
adhesive in case I need it. They're not too uncomfortable - I can
talk and drink water. But I can't eat with them in! First of all,
it's gross! Second, they don't stay in too well. Sometimes even a
carbonated beverage floats the bottoms. I suppose I will call the
dentist tomorrow. But if anyone here would care to advise, share, or
support, I'd love to meet you (via e-mail). My father tells me to
use a powder adhesive. My father still doesn't understand the
newfangled "automobile." Should I use the adhesive? Will that help
me eat? Should I eat with them in? What about cleaning them? I've
been brushing my teeth & brushing the dentures separately. I wear
them to sleep. Am I supposed to use those fizzy tablets? A glass?
I have two children - glasses are out of the question! I have no
glass they would fit in. What happened to those little plastic cases
my parents had? An organized person I am not. It might be late and
I might put my contact lenses in the fizzys, pumice my dentures, and
use some sort of feminine product on my face overnight! This isn't
fun! Any advice?
Thanks!
Peace,
Kelisha
