hello everyone! i'm a friend of janie becker's...i came to the women
and trans health weekend a few winters back (remember that yoni
cake?!) and led a crampbark-tincture workshop. it was my first herb
workshop ever and now i'm teaching them regularly at the coop i work
at and am teaching a summer herb program in my home and garden - thank
you for that opportunity that got me brave enuf to make it happen!
i just took a look at your webpage and got excited - i'm teaching a
holistic sexuality workshop at a small college here in vermont in a
month or so and i'd love to talk with anyone that has taught such a
workshop - it's gonna be part anatomy, part show and tell (mostly
focused on safer sex), etc. i'm also going into a school to talk with
the 5th grade girls about menstruation (display some alternative
menstrual products, bring in a vulva puppet, have a anonymous question
and answer box, etc.) i'd love any resources and ideas!!!
i also wanted to let y'all know about a collective i'm a part of -
we love dandelions too! we created the radherb network and organize
the northeast grassroots community herbal convergence, focused on
making herbal medicine/education (and health care in general) more
accessible. our third convergence will take place october 10-12,
location tba. it's a bioregional conference, but i still wanted to
let y'all know about it - a couple people biked from ohio last year!!
we just started a website www.radherb.org if you'd like to check it out.
i'm really glad to be on your email list. some friends and i have
the opportunity to use a new community space (a store/cafe of local
products www.lacevt.org), and we're envisioning a community
apothecary, lending library, and they have a kids area so parents can
come to workshops! i feel a collective emerging and thinking of how
grassroots your workshops seem to be (affordable, with childcare,
focusing on self/community-health) is inspiring...thanks!
take care,
dana
