To communicate information about the DSAHR to its members and others in the Down syndrome community. Also, we are here to help dispel the myths and stereotypes of Down syndrome in order to help our family members become accepted members of society.

The Down Syndrome Association of Hampton Roads is a non-profit charitable organization that supports the families and persons with Down syndrome. Our mission is to enhance the lives of individuals with Down syndrome, helping them reach their full potential by providing family support, education, and social opportunities in Southeast Virginia and Hampton Roads.

Our objectives are to assure parents that there are families in similar circumstances who can provide support, to promote awareness for people with Down syndrome on the part of educators, medical professionals and the community, to provide encouragement and support for individuals with Down syndrome so they will participate in all aspects of community life, and to advocate for acceptance and opportunities for persons with Down syndrome in the community.
