WELCOME! ˇBIENVENIDOS!
to the home page for the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance in Glendale, CA and nearby areas. (If you're not nearby, please join us online. See ABOUT, below.)
THIS INFO IS UP-TO-DATE FOR 2008.
MISSION: As an affiliate of DBSA National, we have the same mission: "To Improve the Lives of People Living with Mood Disorders. We've Been There. We can Help."
ABOUT: We offer PEER support in two ways (PEER facilitated/managed): • online message board, here, 24/7. • in-person support group, Thurs. 6-8pm
WE INVITE people (and those who care about us) who struggle with the self-regulation of their brain; diagnosed with/considered to have: affective disorder, depression, manic-depression/bipolar disorder.
SUPPORT: Thursdays at Glendale Adventist, and online, we empathetically encourage each other. We listen, share our feelings, concerns, successes, and insight on our journey to recover our 'self.' By focusing on our personal experiences, as we manage our mood and co-occurring conditions, we maintain our positive, safe environment. This isn't a group for analyzing, advising, debating or selling.
IN-PERSON:Thurs. 6-8 pm, Glendale Adventist Medical Cntr, 1509 Wilson Ter., Glendale, CA, 91206, ground floor, Psych Unit 1, Classroom 1. All you need to do is be present. Come, listen, talk only if you feel comfortable. Just by being present you'll learn that you're not alone.
ONLINE: Follow Yahoo "join" link, above. It's necessary to respond to our 'Membership Pending' email to process your application.
DIRECTIONS: Thomas Guide p. 564, H4. From 2 Frwy, exit Holly west, left on Harvey, right on Wilson Ter. From 134, exit Harvey north, left on Wilson Ter. Ask for help via message board or dbsaglendale@yahoo.com. Note: Email is only checked periodically.
