I think you will find that we are all different. I took metformin
(Glucophage) for a very short period of time, and then absolutely
refused to take it any more, as it does do liver damage, regardless
of what they tell you. You have to weigh the risks for yourself. The
MD's have tried to get me onto other oral meds but I am
"uncooperative". I am now using only Combetic and and a twice daily
injection of slow-acting Lantus insulin (25 ml). I also take a number
of supplements, but not like I did before I started with Combetic. My
h1Ac readings over the past year since starting Combetic have been
from a low of 6.0 to as high as 7 (during a period of time I had a
long term sinus infection and pneumonia), and most recently back to
6.4, so both my doctor (I had to change doctors) and I are happy. I
also have fibromyalgia, which does affect my blood sugar levels
significantly.
