Hi there,
I am new here, i read about the coconut diet in womans world,
found this website through there.I went out today and bought the
oil.I am so excited to get started.I lost 70 pounds 2 years ago,
been keeping it off untill i had surgery 4 months ago.The way i lost
the weight 2 years ago was an unhealthy way, so i was glad to come
across this diet, it seems to be healthy.I am hoping to find friends
here so i can compare notes, and have some support.Any tips would be
a big help, thanks in advance.
I officially started my coconut diet today. I had been using the coconut oil sporadically for about a year, but today I am following Cherie Calbom's book as close as possible. I have about 50 to 60 pounds to lose and a hypothyrod problem to help.
I am hoping soon we all have a great testimony to share about this diet.
I am new here too (last Friday)…I
have followed the diet for about a month and as previously stated in an earlier
email I used to feel very sluggish, tired, often depressed and unable to move
any of the weight, but after just 3 days I felt so much better.
It’s now been over a month and I have lost 11 pounds with no exercise (I
intend to add exercise now that I am feeling better). Coconut oil has
helped me stay on the diet with no cravings for the junk I used to love and
that’s a miracle, trust me, I was the ultimate chocoholic. I am now
a cocoholic!! (-:
Cheryl, after reading Cherie Calbom’s
book I realized that I had hypothyroid symptoms too. I had been tested about 5
years ago and they said I was fine, but during the following years I realized
that I had more and more symptoms of hypothyroidism and am now really eager to
see more results as I continue my journey hand in hand with coconut oil!
BTW…I do love it as a hand and body lotion also…it is wonderful on
cracked heels, makes them as soft as can be!
I got a stressed out this past weekend and
fell off the coconut wagon for one day, but got right back on the next day, so
don’t get discouraged if this happens to you, we are only human.
I am truly looking forward to spring and
summer this year with renewed energy and less pounds!
Cheryl, please keep us posted as to how
you see the diet helping your thyroid problem because this is very crucial to
weight lose and a lot of women suffer from it.
Hope to hear more from you all soon…keep
up the great work…we’ll get there!! SMILE
Judy

I sure will. You are exactly right about so many people suffering with thyroid disorders, some unknown to them. It can make your weight loss even harder. Hopefully I won't have the problem. I will let you know how my thyroid is doing, and also my weight loss.
I would love to hear how everyone else is doing on the Coconut Diet with weight loss or health improvement. Judy, do you have much more weight to lose? Thanks for the encouragement. I am really excited. Have you went through phase 2 with the different cleanses?
Yes, ideally I have about 30 more pounds to lose.I would be happy with 20
more.
Cleanses.just last week I did a liver / gallbladder cleanse, different from
the process than in the book only because that is the one I had used before
and it was very effective. I am averaging about a 3 lb per week weight loss
and that is without exercise, so I'm happy about that, but now that the
weather is getting nicer I plan to get out there and walk again.
I feel really good on this diet, not deprived, though once in awhile I get a
hankering for chocolate. Last Sunday I did have some, but then I went right
back to schedule on Monday with no consequences except that Monday was a
little harder because my body remembered the chocolate from the before!
Ahhh.sweet memories (-: !!! I think I have more motivation on this diet
because the coconut oil is satisfying and I'm not constantly hungry.

I'm just wondering how you are all doing on your diet. I have plateaued at
15 pounds.now I have added exercising. I do free weights 3 x week and I got
myself a rebounder (trampoline) and am loving it. So I may be gaining some
muscle and therefore don't see the pound loss, but I do feel better and my
clothes fit better.
I have been successful at eliminating all wheat products.that I have under
control. But sometimes, just sometimes.I get that chocolate urge that I
cannot resist.
Does anybody else have these urges and how does it affect you when you
cheat?

Hi, my name is melody and I have not bought the book yet, but read about the
diet in Womens Weekly, I have not even cut out all the foods that need to go
yet, and still I have lost weight just by substituting coconut oil in my diet.
If youfeel like cheating go ahead, because I have found that by doing so you
will eventually not want that chocolate, and I am very much into herbs as well.
If you can get PH GREENZONE from a herbalist, this suff looks gross, but you
eventually aquire the taste for it, and it balances out your blood sugar and you
will not want to crave for all the wrong stuff that puts on weight. I take it
twice a day. It really does help. Also take GOTU KOLA. It is also a chinese herb
and helps with nerves and blood circulation, which in turn helps to disolve all
our ugly cellulite. You should exercise along with it and boy do you feel good.
Love to all and good luck with the weight loss

I am very new to the group and was wondering if you would share with
me what liver gallbladder cleanse you did that allowed things to
move more quickly for you. The one in this book recommends lemon
juice and other sour foods but they cause me bad indigestion.
Thanks,
Alana

Hi, I'm new and just wanted to say, as a hashimoto's hypot patient I
have long heard how cocoanut oil helps, but never knew how to use
it.Hope I can find some recipes here. I heard it tastes yucky, yet I
also know it is used in Tai food for example, and in India, gourmet
foods. So my guess is, ya goota know how. :)
As for me, I am almost 55 y.o., dx'd about 11 years now, am very into
alternatives, and glad to have found this place!

I started a group cuz I was dx'd Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism and to be
honest, I needed support myself. The problem is, I'm a vegetarian and
many vegetarians are told they must eat meat once diagnosed with
hypothyrodism. Not true! I opened a group for veggie hypo's, & on
natural healing. Note we are (mellow) Krishna devotees, everyone's
welcome who're respectful to our path, we'd be happy to share what we
know about health & hopefully visa versa. Lets all help each other.
Anyway, we'll post info found to work or help, the use of herbs,
vits/minerals/aminos, oils, detoxing, buliding, etc. Please, not for
caretakers, the curious, etc but a Support group for those actually
diagnosed with "Autoimmune" Hypothyrodism. Read the front page & see
if we're a good fit for you. :) http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/HypothyroidVegetarians/
