Here's an excerpt from just one of the e-mails I sent to a woman at CSA/EHRS funding source. When I write below: "After all this has been done..." I am referring to after I send in all the paperwork Ms. Flores requested. Of course, Ms. Funding Source did nothing to help me either.

I would like to know if (Mr. Blank) can direct me to any program in (my state) which provides emergency repair assistance to (my city) home owners of low to moderate income so that I can get help with my AC.

CSA's EHRP installed a new compressor outside of my home years back but left the now 20+ year old interior AC/Heater Unit (both are one and the same system) as is despite it being problematic. Near the end of this past winter when I turned the heater on no air blew from it at all and it began to emit a burning odor. This past month I turned the AC on to see if that would work, and although it cooled down the house some it really strains when starting up and makes horrendous grinding metal noises when it goes off. Worse than ever before.

 

If my AC ceases to function altogether this summer I will require EMERGENCY aid. However, based on past experience with EHRP I am so afraid I will be discriminated against again by Ms. Flores, and that staff will continue to look the other way; that after I send in my application, copy of title, and myriad proof of income (including written statements from all my clients who live in different states and countries, which would be an impossible feat to accomplish, but even if this could be done it would take at least a month as I explained to the program last time it requested this information), Ms. Flores will then come up with something else I need to send in. Perhaps a photocopy of my STATE ID, fingerprints, and a blood sample?

 

My point being: me and my animals will be DEAD from the heat by the time Ms. Flores has exhausted all the petty tortures she can think up, and ultimately she will say, "We are all out of funds now," anyway! Ergo, I am writing to see what other programs may be out there so I can actually get some of these ancient repairs done and any new ones that arise, in a timely manner, and be treated with some dignity during the process. Thank you.
