8pm ET 1360 AM and on the Internet UPDATE: Computer scientist and Lehigh professor, Dan Lopresti, will also be a guest on Wednesday's Voice of the Voters. Dr. Lopresti will follow Ohio Secretary of State, Jennifer Brunner, to discuss the EVEREST report.
Ohio's top election official, Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, shares her views on Ohio's Voting System Review, known as EVEREST (Evaluation and Validation of Election Related Equipment, Standards and Testing). This week's Voice of the Voters will explore the key findings and recommendations from Ohio, a state that is a hotbed of election integrity activity.
How do the findings affect the election integrity landscape across Ohio? Across America? With Presidential primaries just weeks away, where do we go from here?
Find out this Wednesday, December 19, 8 pm EST on the Voice of the Voters.
John Gideon (www.Votersunite.org) will join us for a weekly update at the end of the hour.
Daniel Lopresti received his bachelor's degree from Dartmouth in 1982
and his Ph.D. in computer science from Princeton in 1987. He has served
on the faculty at Lehigh University since 2003. Dr. Lopresti's research
interests include computer security and document image analysis, among
other topics. He has authored or co-authored over 100 publications in
journals and refereed conference proceedings and holds 21 U.S. Patents.
Over the past several years he has spoken extensively on problems in
electronic voting. Dr. Lopresti is currently leading a
multidisciplinary team funded by a National Science Foundation
CyberTrust grant to study issues surrounding the reliable processing of
voting records, in particular paper ballots. This work is focused on
characterizing the errors that arise in the computer reading of paper
ballots, examining approaches for unbiased election auditing, and
investigating techniques for facilitating extremely accurate manual
recounts. Questions of voter perceptions and confidence are also being
addressed.
