Spontaneous post, but feel free to share.
Dear Colleagues:in The National Disability Party and Persons With Pain International:
Just a quick overview to report that in a few hours at the United Nations in New York the General Assembly is expected to Adopt the International Convention on the Rights of Persons With Disabilities; reports to follow.
In addition to your representation through civil society participation, I am very pleased to let you know that after intense online (Internet) Interaction yesterday in which some of you took part in background, and all in heart and mind...
a statement on inclusion of persons with disabilities considered or treated as "invisible" will be included.
Coverage of the Convention in other principles and respects, with *Nothing About Us* without us implied the human rights protection of all persons with disabilities. But it is important that what is called "invisible" disability (we know this a complex subject continually explored) be openly expressed to all the Ambassadors of all the Countries at the U.N. and Worldwide.
There is planned a live webcast (google or otherwise search of united nations webcasts, as I do not have the e-address handy) and it will be archived, but as well we will be there in person.
Thanking you for everything, in celebration, LDMF.
Linda D. Misek-Falkoff.
