If you put a frog into hot water, he will jump out right away, but if you put a frog into cold water, he will sit there until the heat rises and cooks him. Moral of this story is that the powers-that-be put us into cold water, and little by little turned the heat up till now we are practically cooked. Five enemies of peace inhabit with us - avarice, ambition, envy, anger, and pride; if these were to be banished, we should infallibly enjoy perpetual peace.
