On People with Pain (PWP) as Paradigmatic re "healthy incentives" (was: P.S. on * Issue Spotting * Automation...)

Good morning Lee and all:

Resonating, often as I have  read proposed articles and other documents regarding persons with disabilities, thought not apllying this recently - it happens that a test one can apply is what it says about people with pain.  People with pain run across vast numbers of disabilities by just about any definition and are vastly discriminated against with judgmental statements, decisions, indecisions. Will PWP be covered by the Convention? It has been a while since I thought of this; we have all joined hands for the general good, and this is blessed opportunity, but also there are times we wind back to more individual foci.

Now looking at pros and cons of wellness "incentives," and reflecting on healthy living concepts and history, and situations the world concerning healthy persons incentives contrastively in prior times of World War but contrast the Kennedy era, we will not find easy solutions.  I believe we must not screen out any point of view but grow strong to absorb all perspectives and try to weed out the negative. Much of this is about communication and decision making and conscience - not easy topics to roll in one ball.

Ands much of this is about classification.  We loathe it (often when called Definition) but we cannot escape it when we wish understanding and support. ((Parenthetically, much that is developing on motion sensors in the home draws our attention too as to definition, "self-determination" or autonomy,  confining aspect of all models, and potential deep infringement on prospects for positive self-regard; and yet there are supportive aspects with which readers in this field are familiar)).

As to CSPAN, I viewed again (because it replayed today) the statement on employees and would appreciate your reaction in any terms, but specifically in terms of being believed and having access to enjoyment of quality of life.

This is close but not exact, though heard a second time:

- - - - - - - - - - - -
"incentives if you don't use your sick leave because you are healthy we give you extra time off; your other employees are sitting home due to their unhealthy life styles but you get incentives." (near but not exact quote).
- - - - - - - - - - - -

[I have seen people with pain try to endure it to the point to passing out in order to earn days off].

And seen it happen where close to death and saved by surgery maybe moments from it, nonetheless employee  had to hear a manager tell the work group that  she was proud never to have taken a day of sick leave.  There are people like this.  We simply have to endure, not turn aside, but rather have to discuss the pros and cons of her statement.

Because we are on a journey of issue-spotting not advocacy at least not yet, and few would deny that it is more health supportive not to smoke, not to be overweight, etc., which the (on CSPAN) speaker said was keeping workers on sick leave. And not being sick or perceived as sick in the first instance would be a boon.

How does International Law get build which supports respect and credulity - do we know how to do that even with more local law, or in our own daily lives?

Respectfully, LDMF.

I cannot use my eyes without severe pain for more than 10 to sometimes up to 20 minutes.  I have friends even who say "but you use the computer"/
(I play scrabble on line for instance that requires actually very little eye usage and allows for rest times. but looks like I am using eyes for full 20 minutes.) so this is a very good point.
