Hi Fabian,
I am sorry to hear that your Dr is unwilling to prescribe the proper pain medication for your level of pain. I know it is difficult to find a Dr that is willing to do so and it is because most Dr's "GP's, IM's and such" are worried that if they prescribe strong narcotics that the DEA will yank their license to prescribe controlled medications. Instead they write you an Rx for relatively mild pain killers, for a short period of time and take your money without really helping you. You need a Pain Management Dr that will evaluate your level of pain and prescribe the proper medication to keep the pain under control. These Dr's are special people that care more about your quality of life than their wallet. They do go out on a limb for you risking the wrath of the DEA and our conservative politicians that write the laws of our land so do exactly as these Dr's instruct you to do with regards to taking the meds, and reporting to them if the meds are working or not. You may not have a Pain Management Specialist in your area so I would highly recommend traveling to a major city to visit one. You will have to see this Dr at least every 3 months but it is better than being in pain and putting up with substandard care from a Dr that is only interested in your money. And MOST importantly find a surgeon that is both COMPETANT and CARING. In order to find the proper professional I recommend you visit http://www.partnersagainstpain.com/ which I hope will give you some more information about the treatment of pain.
Sincerely Dan | |||
