Dear Ed:
I hope it is "ok" to thank you from all of us for your terrific blending (oops, another association) of food-for-thought and food as a topic.
These are of course serious matters, but just one beautiful thing about persons with disabilities and their allies worldwide, is that we all are, again, at least 'balloon with feet people' who bounce back, bounce back, bounce back.... (if that image is too jolly in context I feeall herewill catch the message).
It is so wonderful to be here as these momentous changes just begin. What with the awesome Disability Convention (Treaty) developing currently too - we will stick with them as they evolve. They will stick with us as evolutionary Monuments to Process as well as Products.
You bring up a real good point about the prescriptions too, and let's all attend whatever issues and questions come up. Wondering here, though just first thoughts re your post, aren't MANY presecriptions done off-label precisely for avowed or perceived benefits, and that one of the points of beneficial experiment and expansion as promised before passage of the new medicare bill to wsaid to be to allow for more preventive "explorations"?
... e.g. thinking about ssri "psychological" medications commonly prescribed for physicical pain.
It seems our focus on* Trickle Up Teamwork,* participation basics, and concentration on the interfaces among people, domains, goals and implementations (inclusion at ever phase, and nothing about us without us) will surely pay off. There sure are challenges and it is great to be here in the first Internet born (and borne) U.S. Political Party along with the other disability related and other net discussion and meeting groups to which we all belong.
C U soon, LDMF.

This means that many off label uses will no longer be covered. Most of us are familiar with and use off label drugs that have been found to be effective.
Will our FDA have to approve and establish guidelines/mandates for the use of foods and shelter as the use of Medicare dollars must be prescribed in order to obtain same. This would make an interesting "fight" in congress if they try to change the Medicare rules to include food and shelter, as they must be FDA approved under the present structiure.
Just wanted to pass along this FOOD for THOUGHT.
