I think that you can plentifully help those here keep an eye on the developing pain care field, for example assure that patients perspectives are kept in place re the Congressional Pain care Bill of 2003 (national) and internationally (United Nations Treaty for persons with disabilities). There is a map to state law and policy - link to be posted soon, and perhaps each county has guideleines also. For simplicity, we might associate their contents with the UN present themes.
Re the US, my own take is that it is terrific there is to be a White House Summit, and A Health and Human Services Director on pain issues, and regional centers; and/but pointedly those in pain will ever want to know their relationships with local physicians and in the immediate here and now, and also want to be represented on Committees.
We looked at the Bill (HR 1863) previously and I can repost one of the summaries, but in the meantime do you know or can you find out your Representative and their email if you would consider applying to attend the White House Summit. If others here would like to attend as a group we might apply for that too. Thx for your note and encouragement; I am hesitant to address members of the large pain groups because several of them do not want other pain groups promoted; but this is not a pain support group per se and rather a study group (though personal posts are welcome too) so if you want to let others know we are concerned with law and policy nationally, internationally (and locally) just let them know.
C U soon, :) LDMF.
