[sidebar] The Joys of a (here, United Nations Disability) Treaty as   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #1937 of 2503 |
Q:  I hear that international treaties can take up to and over 20 years to be ratified by many nations or even for them to consider it.

A:  Yes it can take some time to dialogue toward understanding. Coming to an understanding about goals, concepts, terms. That is concerning a Treaty as a product.  But consider the tremendous immediate  gains of the process:  connectivity;  mutual respect! Dialogue! Action! And plenty of food for thought and self-awareness, self-confidence building up all the time.

And moving matters which have been background into the foreground .. being able to tell others ... this matter is so important that the nations of the world are even considering a binding treaty for protecting rights.  This process generates respect in itself!  You can tell your friends, your supporters; you may gain supporters.

Thoughts to ponder, and a bright Wednesday morning to all, :) LDMF.
