Hi all,
I am an older, single adult female who contracted hiv fairly late in life. I
have been pos for nearly 14 years, asymptomatic, not on meds and my count
varies. Some concerns of mine are:
1. small rural area where I grew up and live necessitates not revealing my hiv
status. Also
Support groups that are few and far away from where I live.
2. Social life??????? dating negative men would mean revealing my status so that
leaves only pos men and how do we meet them locally w/o revealing our status?
Hmmmmm, around in circles we go.
3. My few experiences with government agencies left me hoping that I
never have to rely on them for anything. I, personally, would turn to them only
as a last resort and in dire need. And I do realize that people do have to deal
with government agencies and God help them as they navigate through the system.
So I guess my concerns would be social stigma, social life, support groups and
help from government agencies.

Hi, my name is "Vee" I am hiv+, African American female non symptomatic,
also undetectable, I am not medically knowledgeable about this disease as most
(IT IS TOO DEPRESSING) I just live day to day and when problems do come, I
will just have to face them then, I have know my status for several years, I
have not dated since finding out in 1997, too afraid of the disclosing because
of the impact it would have on my family and myself. I too would like to see
an article on hetero dating and how hard it is to find ppl which are open
about their status yet are interested in dating.......also where can I get a
copy of poz magazine I am a westsider, only get a chance to catch up on
articles when I visit the doctors office every three months.
