I thank you Skeet for your valuable input.
Unfortunately, this is a VERY common method for a person to find out
that they are HIV+. By discovering what put their significant other
in the hospital. This is what we are trying to decrease. But it
just opens up more cans of worms:
"Why would I test if I am happily married? How can I test w/o
insulting my spouse/partner? It can't happen to me. My partner
would never put me in that kind of risk!"
What we, as a community, need to do is devise a way for people to be
informed about the importance of testing and protection.
Unfortunately this method must A: Be something that people will not
just ignore (like PSA's) B: Be accessible to a majority of the
citizens (if not all) and C: Not scare the public into a frenzy that
breeds fear, panic, prejudice or hatred.
If anyone has any ideas, I'm open to suggestions.
