Hi everyone -
I wanted to write and share the news for those of you who weren't aware of
the recently passed senate resolution designating September 7th National
ADDAwareness Day. Our own Senator Durbin was teh co-sposnor of the
resolution, introdcued by Senator Maria Cantwell of Washington State.
(Those of you who are so inclined should feel free to contact Durbin's
office to thank him). ADDA (Attention Deficit Disorder Association was the
lead proponent of the resolution and worked closely with the Senators to get
the resolution passed by unanonmous consent. CHADD, NMHA (National Mental
Health Association) and the National Counseling Association were among the
organizations supporting the measure.
For the exact wording of the resolution and/or the ADDA press release
announcing the resolution, go the the ADDA website (add.org). ADDA and the
other supporitng organizations are currently planning a variety of joint and
individual activities across the counrty and encourage local affiliates to
do the same. Check out the ADDA website for more information and a schedule
of Awareness Day events.
