About going to some other group on the Internet as
George (gpawlus) says: this is a very good idea,
however, the reason I thought of starting another one
was to network amoung Chicago area people so that we
have some chance of eventually meeting up. Like I
said, the most powerful aspect of the support groups
for me has been the individual friendships that I have
developed locally.
About privacy: to be honest, we don't really know who
the people in the support groups are even when we meet
them face-to-face. And in most of the meetings I have
been to, people don't get any more heart renchingly
honest than in Internet chat rooms. In fact, the
Internet provides anonymity that face-to-face
situations cannot.
Also, people are easy to ignore if they annoy you. In
live support groups you're stuck with them. And worse
case senario, they can be blocked by the moderator
altogether.
For this email support group we could either meet up
in the Chiaddult group live chat at an agreed upon
time or, better in my opinion, start another Yahoo
group for support in the Chicago area and Illinois.
(Not excluding anyone else worldwide who might just
like our vibe.) :o)
What does everyone else think?
