I use Tom Nutter. He works out of Loyola in Maywood at Roosevelt Road and
1rst avenue. He also has a Loyola office out in LaGrange, Right off of Ogden
Avenue and Mannheim/LaGrange Rd.
He is great! He is smart, and he is very easy to talk to. The problem with
psych at a large medical center is they want you to go through "intake".
Kind of a nurse/practitioner/in-power person. If you talk too much about the
depression or any other problem, you can easily get shoved through the
"clinic" where the first year residents get to learn on your dime. This is
normal. Try like hell not to let it happen. You are paying good money for
"experienced" health care professionals. Insist on having them. If not,
walk. Depression is a normal secondary item for ADDers. It will take 3 - 4
weeks for an SSRI, usually Zoloft, to kick in. Have faith. Expect benefits.
Do not let the inexperienced BS you into their care. Get someone who has
experience. You have enough to process with getting the ADD and Depression
into check.
I can tell you this. It is really worth it to be persistent. I enjoy a lot
of inner peace these days and my ability to connect with the world and with
others is not diluted by the meds at all. And, I am much happier and so is
anyone who works with me. But, that is kind of my personality once it is let
alone to fly.
Good Luck,
Tom P

Would you mind revealing who your doctor is? I'm looking for a new
one as my medications aren't working and the one I have (doctor)
hasn't been much help. Depression is also an issue for me.
Thanks,
Donna
