First idea off the top of my head is maybe
catastrophic insurance covering major events.
It would not cover doctor checkups and routine stuff, but it may be
something to look into.

Subject: [Chicago-CHADD] Health
Insurance Issues
So I've decided to return back to school and get my
masters. The problem is that I'm losing my health insurance and although I was
certain I'd have no problems getting insurance through school, I was wrong. I
several pre-exsisting conditions including ADHD and I have to go through a year
waiting period before they'll cover anything for that, which is the whole
reason why I am signing up for the health insurance.
Anyone have any ideas how to get around or deal with this? I was under the
impression that as long as I had continous coverage, that I would not have this
issue, but I was apparently so wrong. I can't afford to do COBRA ($500/month)
and I can't get insurance through my parents, so I may end up dropping to part
time just so that I can work enough hours to get benefits somewhere (like
Starbucks, or somewhere else). Any other ideas?
Keara
