My 4 yr old has multiple food allergies so we're preventatively using Infant Neocate with my 5 month old. Neocate is unique because it's completely amino acid- based (as opposed to broken up proteins) and made in a dedicated facility. Similac has an amino acid-based infant formula version, Elecare, but it's made in the same facility as their other formulas and hypothetically could be cross-contaminated. Neocate also extensively tests and studies it's products.
The products they gave out at the walk today was the older child's version of Neocate, still amino acid based but more flavorful. I think of it as Pediasure for kids with multiple food intolerances/allergies. Nutrica must have a new marketing strategy to target kids with autism b/c of GFCF diets, having food allergies/intolerances, related gastro-intestinal issues. From Parents of Allergic Kids (PAK) Charlotte, I know a few families that order it because their kids love it and they have trouble getting nutrients in otherwise. The downfall is that Neocate products are very expensive. This is the official website to order from: http://www.orderneocate.net/ Sometimes they have specials, 20% off certain products, but usually not the Splash. If anyone's ordering, check Ebay, etc. first.
