I'm happy to announce a new Project that I think you'll be interested in.
When we think about Astrology and especially 'our' interest in exactly
how to 'change' our stars, the aspect of the "Transits" are extremely valuable as
a technique or technology for Self-change!

In other words, each day, the Stars show us how we're doing.  Whenever we experience
ANY malefic flavor from the stars, this is Nature showing us which of our personal
planets are weak or undeveloped.

For example, if we had an Exalted or Full Moon in our chart, we wouldn't be nearly as
thrown off by the so-called negative or malefic 'times' of the Moon.

Millions of people every day worry, feel anxiety, fears and even experience depression, just because they're out of tune with the greater potential of their personal Moon's.

In other words, there are a number of times each month when the big Moon in the sky,
is going through so-called 'rough' times.  Maybe the Moon's waning, or maybe it's being aspected by any of the malefics, Saturn, Rahu/Ketu, Mars or even the Sun, and as a result, negative or uncomfortable 'feelings' come to us.

This natural occurrence from the stars or the Transits, is Nature's way of showing us where we need to grow.

In this New Transits project, we're going to discuss the Transits each day, and how we all, can integrate with our personal charts and Dasa periods that we're going through.

Dear Friends,

      Well, it's been a really fascinating year, huh!  I hope you were able to gain as much knowledge and support from the Transits or our first Season's of the Stars book.  As we approach another year coming up, I'm happy to report a New Project that I've been thinking about for awhile.

      What I'd like to do is comment each day on the Transits that are coming and communicate with all of you as to how YOU'RE experiencing these same transits.  See, the Transits, like the weather are going to be coming to each one of us in the same way.

      However, we're each going to receive and respond to `them' in a unique way depending upon where we're at, what our charts are all about and especially what Dasa periods we're going through.

      So, the next `step' from watching the Transits each day, is to figure out how the general Transits of `today' are going to be influencing EACH ONE OF US!

      So, feel free to write in to the group and share your experiences.

      Feel free, also to ask any questions that you have and we'll discuss them on-line here through the group, for all to enjoy and take advantage of.

"The `Perfection' that is Truly Virgo"

            Virgo is often called the `sign' that seeks perfection!  And, this is a good way of thinking about Virgo.  Every person who has a little Virgo in their charts, or every month when the Moon or other planets move through Virgo, you can literally `feel' some sense of perfectionism.

            For some it's always been this nagging frustration that things aren't shinier.  Maybe you're sitting at your breakfast table and today, the water marks really stand out to you.  "Drat, look at those", we think quietly to ourselves.

            Or, maybe you feel like commenting on your spouse's hair or frustrating habits.  "Eh, sweetheart, why are you focusing on `that' today'?

            "Eh,… I don't know.  For some reason it's just jumping out at me."

            "Well, honey you'd better check your Transit calendar.  Maybe there's some Virgo thing happening today?"

            And, lo and behold, we look up the Transits, and `boom' Moon has just moved into Virgo! 

            Like that, we are all experiencing at various times the positives and the negatives of Virgo.

            Yes, Virgo is `that' which seeks PERFECTION!

            Unfortunately, because most of the time we don't look in the `right' area, we end up feeling frustrated, and when frustrated, our feelings, thoughts and behavior becomes critical, fault finding or judgemental.

            Today, we're going to focus on the `TRUE' meaning and message of Virgo.  We're also going to talk about both the positive and negative sides of Virgo.  And, finally, we'll end with a discussion about how we can learn to transmute or transform any of the `negative' sort into a more `perfect' reality.

            Personally, I was born with 2 planets in Virgo, (Moon & Saturn) so I've had ample time to reflect on both the good and the bad of Virgo.  My earliest memory of my own Virgo ness comes when I was a small boy.  My mother, in fact, loves to tell this story.  "You know I used to always believe more in the power of nurturing my children rather than nature.  You know, the old nurture vs. nature debate?  Anyway, when Mark and Laura, (my sister) were very young I put them both in the sandbox to play.

            I'll never forget when little Mark, walked back into the house, in just a few minutes, pushing his little fingers up for me to see, saying: "dirty, dirty".  I looked down and couldn't find any dirt on his fingers which he was showing me. 

 I forgot, about the instance, until about an hour passed by and I thought again about Laura.  `mmm, I wonder where she is, Oh, I'd better go check'.

            And, there she was, still in the sandbox.  She looked up at me and with the biggest smile, even though she was literally covered from head to toe in `real' dirt!  I laughed so hard.  And, when I pulled her out of the sandbox, she wiggled and exclaimed, "NO, I don't want to go!"

            From that moment, I realized that there was a fundamental difference between my children, regardless about how hard I tried to nurture and mold them."

            Later, I was to have my own conscious experience of `my' Virgo ness.  This time, I was in high school and one of my friends came up to me.  I took one look at him and exclaimed, "Hey, who dressed you?" as I systematically started straightening his clothes.  His remark startled me:  "Hey, who are you, my Mother?"  What a curious expression I thought.

            It would be years before I'd realize why I had this experience.

            Later, when I read about my Moon in Virgo, I thought, "Oh, my God, I was being his Virgo mom!

            It would be awhile before I developed any real appreciation about what Virgo was all about.  A few years later I heard a renown Vedic teacher say:  "We don't seek pefection, in the relative, it does not exist.  Instead seek true perfection, inside, in the absolute."

            What a strange expression, I thought.  Can it be that simple?  Are we all experiencing the frustrating and slightly negative aspects of Virgo, only because we're using Virgo in the wrong way?

            Because of my own Virgo planets I began a rather lengthy reflection on Virgo, perfection, and nauseating Virgo traits and experiences.

            When I thought about my self I also realized I liked using my Virgo at work.  In my own chart, my Moon in Virgo, isn't just a mothering thing, but my Moon is also the ruler of my 10^th House.  And, for over 30 years, that I've had a small construction business, I've enjoyed looking into people's homes and seeing, their `cracks'!

            I get invited to come over and fix or remodel their home.  Whether they're interested in a painting or a reconstruction I've found I really enjoy seeing the `faults'.  But, instead of commenting upon them, criticizing, or putting down the person because they've got a lot of cracks in their ceilings, I've gotten hired to "FILL THE CRACKS!"

            Like that, Virgo can easily see the faults.  Whether it's a personality flaw, or a ½ empty glass, but it sees that which is imperfect, imprecise, unflattering, or NOT good enough.

            The problem we all get into with Virgo, however is if we look at the ½ full glass as ½ empty!  We'll find ourselves in difficulties with ourselves or others if we emphasize too much, the negative or small minded side of Virgo.

            Just because Virgo can see the cracks, doesn't mean it's necessarily polite to mention them!

            Just because I notice the cracks in the walls doesn't mean when I go over to my friends house, that I have to say anything about it!

            That great Vedic teacher, by the way also had this to say about `critical ness'.  "You all don't know enough to be critical.  Instead, be uplifting, nourishing and encouraging."  That too, meant a lot to me because where I used to point out people's foibles, even though I was trying to be helpful, I found they responded much better when I saw their positives.

            And, that's when my Jyotish, my advice, my `help' really began taking off, when I would speak about some one's positive traits, qualities and characteristics.  Just because `we' (and by `we' I mean all of us with Virgo traits), can see the faults, doesn't mean we have to emphasize them.

            When I do people's charts, my Virgo sense does give me an ability to see `it all'.  But, it's much more effective to bring out people's positives, first.

            And, invariably, after talking about a person's best planets for 5-10 minutes, they always then say:  "This is great.  Thank you so much but, can you also explain why I have these faults?"

            And, when it comes from their side, oh, boy, is it fun than to point out exactly why they have any and all of their frustrations!

            This is what I love the most about Jyotish is that it has this Philosophy of Benefics and Malefics.  Jyotish defines all the positive aspects of our lives due to the positive or benefic planets that we have.  On the other hand, all our problems, all our sufferings are due to our mistaken, undeveloped or negative, malefic planets!

            In other words, our imperfections, are our Malefics!

            Wow, how cool is that.  But, instead of just pointing out one's faults, its much more important to try and help the person understand how they can transform or transmute their malefic `imperfections' into more PERFECTION!

            Now, when we reflect on Virgo, itself, we'll have a much better sense of what that energy is all about in our charts.  Whether, you have your Virgo, in your 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd, 4^th, or 12^th House, the flavor is the same.  Wherever you have your Virgo, look into that part of your life and see the unmistakable quality of Virgo ness, happening there.

            For me, my Virgo's in the 12^th House and I've always wanted to know about the highest kind of perfection, God, Being, the Absolute, etc.  Coincidently, that's the quality of the 12^th House, the end, that which is beyond the rest, the Transcendent!

            Regardless of where your Virgo is and regardless of what planets you may have in Virgo, right now, we're all being ASSAULTED with a lot of intense Virgo energies!

            Right now, today, October 16^th, 2009, there are 5 Planets in Virgo.  There's the Sun, which is at the 29^th degree of Virgo.  Then, there's Mercury which is at the 16^th degree.  Then, there's Venus, traveling at the 8^th degree, and finally the Moon (8) and Saturn (4) which are all in Virgo, too.

            Whew, now that's a lot of Virgo!

            So, `now' is a perfect time to reflect and work on Virgo.

            Whether you have ANY Virgo planets, or just feel a little `ill' due to all these planets moving through your 2^nd House of Virgo, this is THE time to reflect on all this.

            Let's first start by reflecting on what Virgo is really, all about.

            And, the very moment, that you let go, that you allow yourself to embrace, more fully, that deeper, inward and special Divine part of you, immediately, your Virgo sense will settle down.

            Right away, you'll feel some satisfaction, some deeper fulfillment, when you embrace the true, full potential of Virgo.

            Okay, let's do it.  Right now, sit down, close the eyes and let your mind go.  Let it soar!  Let it move towards that place, that state, that reality which is God.  That part of you which is truly sublime, unbounded, full, eternal and immortal, is the ONLY true Perfection!

            And, when we `embrace' that more, than immediately our Virgo sense will find peace!

           Even, now when all these planets are cursing through Virgo, this is the time to truly embrace that inner beauty.

            It's also an interesting time, because right now, both `the good and the bad' of Virgo are being expressed.  Like every other sign, some planets are happier and others not so happy in Virgo.

            For example, the Sun's kind of medium in Virgo.  When the person has their Sun in Virgo, the deepest part of their self, ego, I, soul, is flooded with the qualities and meanings of Virgo ness.

            My dad had his Sun in Virgo in his chart, and he was a strong perfectionist.  Fortunately, he also had an Exalted Moon in his chart, and he mostly was `hardest' upon his (Sun) self!  Though when he got tired, he'd get cranky and could say very critical things even without knowing it.

            "Can't you pick up your toys?" he'd say.  And, it wasn't how loud he said it.  He wasn't even particularly mad.  He was just being dry, fault finding and critical.  And, because it's not necessarily helpful to be put down by the exposure of one's fault, that's where the pain comes in too often.

            Then, there's Mercury in Virgo.  Mercury in Virgo is the ONLY planet that truly loves being in Virgo.  Astrology says, Mercury is in fact, in its best, possible placement in Virgo.  Mercury, is Exalted in Virgo!  This means that all the best aspects of one's Mercury intellect are available when Mercury is in Virgo.

            And, you'll see that in people who have their Mercury's in Virgo.  They're extremely bright, intelligent, quick minded, powerful thinkers, communicators, with a high degree of discrimination and analytical skills.

            But, even Mercury in Virgo people can misuse that energy.  Often times, even though they don't intend to be hurtful, but their dry, analytic analysis is a little upsetting.  Though they're great people to go to especially if you need any clarity or have any confusion or mistaken notions.

            Then, there is poor Venus in Virgo.  If Mercury's the `best' in Virgo, Venus is the absolute `worst'!  This is because when the Venus heart is in Virgo, the person is full of debilitating, frustrating, and agonizing heart challenges, sadness, emptyness and grief!

            In other words, it's really true what they say, that `love knows no reason'.  And, when Venus is in Virgo, the loving part of us, the appreciative, and caring part gets lost in criticalness.  Venus in Virgo people have many, many frustrations on a romantic or even just heart level.  They're constantly complaining that so and so is no good, and they're not being treated fairly or so and so is un-loving.

            After listening to a Venus in Virgo person for awhile I'll say to them:  "Are you ready to figure out why these difficult things are coming to you?"  That makes them stop for a moment.  Instead of buying into the `blame' quality of seeing the faults in others, I attempt to show them, that everything we go through is REALLY, inside of us.

            If they're open, then, I continue.  "Oh, yes, please!" they might say.  Then, I can say:  "All these frustrations, difficulties and unhappiness, on a heart level are due to your Venus in Virgo.  Venus in Virgo is like trying to find the `reason' for love.  Love just is!  We just need to be more loving and then, everything will be better.  "But, how can I do that.  I,… I just see people's faults and can't help mentioning them!"

            "Well, listen to your expression.   Yes, that's obviously what happens, but, you're also meant to improve that part of you.  You're meant to discover that this is one of your malefic patterns and you CAN transform it.

            We transform our weaknesses, mistaken notions, patterns or malefic vibrations by a sheer act of will!

            We can right now, choose to see the glass ½ empty, or we can see the glass as ½ full.  The more the Venus in Virgo person learns to use their Venus energy more `perfectly' the sooner they'll find themselves `out' of the negative grip of Virgo.

            Every moment that we take the time to point out the good, the positive and the helpful, we stir that possibility even more, in ourselves, as well as others.

            When, I learned to make a point of seeing the positive and the `good' then, life got a chance to truly move forward.

            Sometimes it is helpful to examine our faults.  Sometimes we need to really look at our self, exactly where we are, right now.  But, it's extremely more important to also learn how `to see' ourselves, in our fuller realities, in our greater potential, because that's really where we're all going, anyway!

            This is the other way in which Virgo can be transformed, by the way.

            When we take the mind out of the world, out of the relative, out of the entire field of imperfections and allow the mind to experience directly, the unbounded, unlimited, unblemished field of pure Being within, then, immediately, we find ourselves transformed!

            And, this, by the way, is much easier to do, than trying NOT to see the faults.  The more one's vision spontaneously flows from that deeper harmony and bliss, from within, than one can't help but see the `good' more!

            Then, there is the Moon in Virgo, like what's going on today.  The Moon, too, is thought to not be so good, in Virgo.  The Moon is much happier in signs like Cancer and Taurus where it's more positive nature comes out.  The Moon in Virgo often times, spontaneously `feels' the faults, feels the emotional sadness and smallness of seeing things ½ empty.

            So, it's extremely important that the emotional Moon, learn how to find that more fulfilling and life changing truer Virgo side.

            Finally, Saturn's in Virgo, too right now.  And, for 2 ½ years Saturn will continue moving through Virgo.  We say Saturn is the planet of lessons.  It brings trials and tribulations directly related to the `sign' that it's presently in.

            So, over the last 5 years, for example, Saturn moved through Cancer and Leo.  5 years ago, when Saturn first moved into Cancer, I remember the Jyotishees from India sending us emails warning us of the inherent dangers of Saturn's movement into Cancer.

            "Beware of trials of water!"  they said.  What a strange expression I thought.  I mean I understood it.  Cancer, after all is related to the Moon, which is intimately related to watery emotions.  But, it was still shocking seeing that over the next 2 ½ years, the entire world would go through the debilitating and excruciating frustrations of the big tsunami's and hurricanes of those years, (Katrina, Rita, to name just a few.)

            So, I was prepared to help people, when I ran into those suffering on an emotional level due to Saturn going through Cancer.  Later, when Saturn moved into Leo, we received similar emails saying:  "Beware of hardships with one Self, with Fathers, and even governments."

            And, how true that's been now, these last 2 ½ years.  And, where are governments, `hurt' the most?  In their pocket books!  So, for 2 ½ years we've had one of the worst recessions in decades.  

            Saturn has now moved into Virgo.

            Saturn means lessons of …  So, Saturn in Virgo will really bring to the forefront all the issues, trials, and yet, even purpose of Virgo.  The more we allow ourselves to focus on the true, full potential of Virgo, than we'll find ourselves not frustrated by the small aspects.

            And, with each step towards an inner awakening of Virgo perfection, than ALL the negative realities and experiences of Virgo will slip away!

            Already we've had a month of the Sun's movement through Virgo.

            Tomorrow, it slips out of the Virgo lessons and moves into Libra.

            Then, on October 26^th Mercury moves out of Virgo and into the next sign of Libra.  Though I'm going to kind of miss that transit.  These weeks that Mercury has been cursing through Virgo, have been delightful days of tremendous intellectual clarity and ahas.

           Later, on November 2^nd, Venus too finally will be through the days of its debilitation in Virgo.  In many ways, this is the worst part of the Virgo times we're going through.  The heart, so deeply, hurts in Virgo.  The Venus heart, wants only to be full, loving and fulfilling.

            Fortunately, this year, we've already had some wonderful days, weeks and months of Venus in better signs.  For much of early 2009, Venus was in fact, Exalted in Pisces. I think, because I knew that Venus was going to be spoiled, later, during the hard times of Virgo, I found myself really taking advantage of those days.

            Now, the debilitating part is upon us, and we all are getting presented by Nature, the opportunity to see, what it's like when Venus is misused or not used properly. 

            Life, is always, by the way, showing us the good and bad.

            Every year, the planets all go through many of their positive and negative signs.  This is how life is.  It's constantly moving, going through different relative values.  This is nature's way of allowing us to play out all the different experiences and lessons we've come to learn.

            Life's a School, and the planet Earth is our classroom!

            So, whether you're here to experience the lessons of Venus in Virgo or Saturn, these are the days when the whole world will be going through `it'.

            So, next time you see someone suffering due to not quite understanding all these Virgo, issues, ask them, if they'd like to hear your thoughts on it.

            And, if they give you, their permission, than share these Virgo ideas with them.

Well, here's a good opportunity to discuss the Transits.

Yesterday and today, there are 5 planets in Virgo, all on top of each other.  I got a number of emails from people saying how rough they felt yesterday.  (See below)

From member in India:

"Today as usual every diwali night we have fight in our family

In spite of this holy day, still I feel no peace today

Instead I'm crying a lot

I feel isolated

I don't know why I'm feeling this way

I'm feeling scared and isolated

Why??

I wrote back to her:

"Today is one of the worst, unfavorable days of the month.  In fact, it might be of the entire year.

Yesterday, the Moon and Saturn were colliding in Virgo, even as the Sun was finishing up in Virgo too.  So, if you'd been watching the Transits more closely you'd have known this was going to be a very delicate day."

From a lady in Chicago, about yesterday:

"I felt very rough today.  I had a lot of pain in my foot and didn't feel like doing anything.  Is this that Moon and Saturn collision in your book?"

Dear "L"  Yes, yes.  (She's been watching the Transits for much of this year, so she was able to understand why yesterday was so rough and then deal better with it.

She said:  "Thank goodness I knew why this day was so uncomfortable for me.  You know it was like this last month when the Moon collided with Saturn, in Virgo."

"Yes, I remember.  But, that day was even worse, because the Sun was extremely close to Saturn too, so as the Moon and Saturn collided, the height of the New Moon was worse." 

"Oh, was that why?  My brother, son and their business partner were all fighting on that day, and I wrote to them, to tell them about this transit."

"Good idea.  As much as possible we should be sharing this knowledge and wisdom of the stars with everyone."

Now, here's an example of someone who may have averted the danger on the horizon due to her practicing of Vedic remedies.

From Fairfield, Iowa, 

A lady who's participating in the extended meditation program there:

"Mark, I was thinking I'd be feeling very rough yesterday.  But, I didn't.  In fact I felt great.  Do you think my being on the meditation program might have had something to do with it?"

"Exactly, right.  In fact, meditation is one of the main remedies we can all practice to become more immune to the negative vibrations of the Stars!  Well done.  In fact, I think I'll use your experience as a testimonial about how it's possible to transcend the negative influences."

"Sure, I'd be happy to have you use."

Like this we do have the possibility of gaining mastery over ourselves and the universe.

I like to encourage people to watch the stars for 2 or 3 months and you're likely to find those cycles that bother you the most.  Listen to "L" in Chicago about her experience.

"But, Mark, I'm a little confused.  I do seem to be negatively affected whenever the Moon and Saturn collide, but the New Moon times, they don't seem to affect me so badly.  Can you tell me why?"

"Dear `L',  I've found that people experience the Transits in direct correlation to the strengths and weaknesses of their charts.  For you, you seem more sensitive to the Moon and Saturn collisions rather than the Sun and Moon ones.  And, I think that's because your Moon and Saturn are in the same house in your chart, while your Moon is almost ½ full.  I've tended to find that those with bigger Moons are not as adversely affected by the New Moons, as others.

My Moon is fairly small in my original birth chart, and I'm sure that's the main reason why I've been so sensitive to the New Moon times.  But, I've learned to pay attention to this, and especially practice remedies for the Moon, and now, after all this time, the New Moon's don't bother me nearly as much as before!"

Here's hoping you all learn to identify and master those star cycles that are especially important for you!

The 2 Luminaries;
Sun & Moon

Dear Friends & Subscribers:

            Astrology calls the Sun and the Moon the two great luminaries.  This is because they illuminate our souls!  The Sun illuminates our essence and stands for our egos, I’s, self-confidence, self-identify and Self power.  The Moon, on the other hand stands for our mind’s, our emotions and receives the essence or rays of our Sun’s!

            By itself, the Moon is nothing.  It’s a dead rock that circles a planet, but itself, has no life.  The Moon instead is the receiver of the Sun’s rays.  It receives the rays and as it revolves around the Earth, churns our planet creating the conditions for life and our very weather patterns.

            Every month the Sun moves through the 12 stellar homes of the Sun’s, Signs or Constellations of Astrology.  Each month the Sun vibrates with the nature and characteristics of each Sign.  This last month the Sun was moving through Pisces.  Therefore, this movement is there to show us how well we’re doing with our Pisces.

            Sun/Pisces itself, is about endings, completions, freedom and fulfillments.  For millions of people in the Northern Hemisphere this coincides very nicely with the ending of one year and the beginning of another.  How pleasant this month has been has been partially due to how in-tune are we with the Piscian freedom aspect of life.

            The Moon on the other hand goes through these 12 streams of consciousness, or signs every 2 ½ days!  So, the last 2 ½ days the Moon was traveling across the constellation of Capricorn.   This was a good time to reflect, (Piscian) on the nature of Capricorn ambition and accomplishments this last year.

            I say ‘reflect upon’ because the Moon also is Waning and you can feel its dynamic inward quality right now, in spite of going through Capricorn which can be so achievement and accomplishment oriented.  Also, because Saturn in Cancer this month fully aspects Capricorn these last 2 ½ days of the Moon’s transit was even more an opportunity for inwardness, rest and rejuvenation.

            In fact, if the Moon felt any uncomfortable ness during these last 2 ½ days that was more to do with the lessons of Saturn then the lessons of the Moon!  Today, the Sun’s arrived at the 29^th degree of Pisces.

            Get ready for a complete shift into the all-important powerful nature of Aries over these next 30 days.  Today, the Moon already has made its transition into the new Sign of Aquarius.

            Allow yourself to receive the unique Aquarian energy of creativity and seeing things in new and exciting, ‘out of the box’ sort of ways during these next few days.  The Sun will be bursting into Exalted Aries starting tomorrow, while the Moon will be colliding with both Rahu and Mars in Aquarius and then finishing up with its New Moon status on the 17^th.

            Always there are many sometimes conflicting goings on with the stars as it is in our charts.  The key is to take advantage of the Benefic strengths, like Exalted Sun in Aries coming up, but also staying in-tune or balancing the Malefic weaknesses like the Moon’s collision with Mars & Rahu as well as its Waning phase.

            Today’s your last chance to reflect on how well you did this entire last year.  Starting tomorrow, the Sun’s plunge into Aries will be a tremendous burst of energy, excitement and dynamism!

            However, allow your Moon it’s final last few days of Waning ness and then plunge into your Aries projects and endeavors reflective of this entire next year.  Also, one other caution.  This month and year the Sun as it passes through Aries will be fully aspected by Saturn in Cancer again!

            Over the last few years as Saturn was going through Cancer it was already fully aspecting the Sun each year when the Sun normally was found going through Aries.  This will continue one last time before Saturn goes direct soon and then finally leaves Cancer to begin it’s movement into Leo starting in July, 2007.

            So, make sure that you don’t get too wild with that Sun in Aries energy.  You should find that you feel that intense Sun in Aries energy, drive and excitement, but there will tend to be a gap between what you ‘want’ and what Saturn is able to deliver during this month.

            In other words if you cognizant of the speed in which Saturn wishes things to develop then you’ll still be able to take maximum advantage of this Exalted Sun time.  However, if you don’t and push too hard, then you’ll especially feel it this month in that familiar Saturn delaying quality goings on.

Main Highlights of this Week:

Moon’s New Moon deepest Waning – Coming this week…. April 17^th

Mars is in Aquarius and moving on a collision course with Rahu, now!

Sun’s moving into its Exalted Sun in Aries status this week!  April 14^th

Venus moves into Taurus now.  Already at the 5^th degree, on today, 4/11^th
            Look for the #2 or Taurus for the main area of Venus benefit this month!

Jupiter’s still in Scorpio where it’s still fully aspecting the Sun in Pisces!  Well at least for 3 more days.  This influence may feel strongest now, because the Sun’s at the end of Pisces in terms of degrees, which is where Jupiter is too.  This means the Jupiter power is stronger “RIGHT NOW!”

Jupiter & Venus in Opposite Signs this month. As Venus has recently entered Taurus, because Taurus is opposite to Scorpio where Jupiter is this month and year; see if you don’t notice an ‘axis’ of ‘GOOD’ this month!

Mercury moved back into Pisces last week.  Did you feel it?  I felt it already.  It’s soooo helpful noticing especially Mercury’s Retrograde or transit through it’s sign of debilitation.  This means Mercury is weaker during this Debilitated time.  However, this can be alleviated by allowing yourself the extra time that may be needed to think things through right now.

Moon’s normally pretty happy in Capricorn.  However, this month because Saturn’s in the opposite sign, notice that these next 2 days will be slightly more intense then the last few.  (Saturn’s at the 24^th degree, Retrograde, so it’s most intense glance won’t be till tomorrow.)

Good days, however, to work on your Self, healing and taking a short break, catching your breath, pausing and re-grouping.

April 12^th – Moon very close to Saturn’s direct influence today!

Moon’s starts off today at the 20^th degree of Capricorn today.  Because Saturn’s at the 24^th degree in the opposite sign of Cancer, you may notice the special affect of Saturn most today!  This will be stronger this month because of the Waning status of the Moon as well.

This is really a day to take off, or certainly take it as easy as you can.

I always look at tomorrow’s Transits the night before!  It’s always a wonderful reminder of how many will be experiencing the day, ahead!

Jupiter & Venus are opposite this month which will be a very nice Transit coming up!

Sun, deliciously close to Aries today!  You may already be feeling it’s up-coming shift into it’s happiest place of the year!

April 13^th   - Moon moves into Aquarius, today, 5^th degree.

I give today, an important ‘Warning’ Sign because the Moon is with 2 powerful malefic acting planets Rahu & Mars which are both in Aquarius, now.  You may really feel or encounter some intense emotional days today or tomorrow.

Very appropriate Friday the 13^th !  Moon crosses the path of Mars today.  Don’t buy into that added fieryness happening right now!  Use to get something important done, but not to be irritated or angry, though that may be how you feel!  Go punch a punching bag! hehe

Saturday            
April 14^th  -  Moon’s at the 18^th degree starting today.

Lots of Mixed values today.  Sun begins its movement into Exalted Aries today.  However, Moon is fast, tightly between Rahu & Mars today as well.  Right now, the Moon’s at the 18^th degree while Rahu’s at the 21^st and Mars is at the 12^th  Don’t jump off a Aquarian bridge today! degree, all in Aquarius.

Venus already has moved to the 8^th degree in its Own Sign of Taurus.  Jupiter, at the 25^th degree means their simultaneous 7^th house aspect upon each other will represent a powerful loving Venus blessed by the Divine Jupiter.  This means, take advantage of spiritual thoughts and ideas now, especially with any affairs of the heart or relationships, now!

April 15^th    Moon’s moved into and at the 3^rd degree of Pisces, today

Already, today you’ll notice that unique shift when the Moon moves to the ‘other’ side of any Malefic acting planet.  This happens all the time whenever Moon collides with the Sun, Saturn, Mars, Rahu or Ketu.

You’d think with all these opportunities there’d be a real purpose to blessings in disguise!  Today, Moon & Mercury like being together.

However, Mercury’s strange acting in so-called debilitated transit through Pisces.  Debilitated is such a harsh word, and one Sanskrit scholar told me one time the actual meaning of the words Exalted means ‘shining’ and Debilitated is ‘un-shining’. 

I like this one, because like the New Moon, that planet is not acting up to its normal strength!

See, if you notice the New Moon approaching now.  These last few days are more noticeable now.

April 16^th - Moon starts off the day at the 18^th degree of Pisces, now.

Moon’s pretty happy in Pisces as it enjoys the freedom aspect of Pisces.  However, this month because the Sun’s so close in Aries, you may feel some conflict to wanting to go out and be busy but, on a day when the Moon is Waning into it’s unshining position!

April 17^th   – New Moon in Aries, today!

Moon collides as if with the Sun early today about 7am.  Sun’s moved into Aries, already about the 3^rd degree so Moon’s also at the 3^rd degree of Aries ‘now’.  7am is the time for me, CST, in mid-western .  Adjust for your own time zone and longitude and latitude.

Moon quickly moves past the Sun today, so see if you notice that natural shift into the Waning Mode!

If you took natural advantage of the rest opportunity of the last few days, this day and next week will feel stronger!

Next, Coming up!

See, if you notice this New Moon with the Sun in Exalted Aries is somehow stronger then other New Moon’s we experience.

However, any negativity will often be because we don’t pause or rest or take the time to recuperate on such days. 

Here’s hopeing you can this month!  Enjoy this next week, as one of the most powerful periods of the entire year!

Mars:               14^th degree Aquarius

Rahu:                21^st degree Aquarius

Conclusion:         

After the 17^th of April, begins one of the most powerful Waxing Moon cycles of the entire year.  The next 7-14 days will be some of the most Auspicious days of the year.

This starts with the Waxing Moon cycle on the 18^th.  Then, when the Moon moves into it’s own Exalted Sign, Taurus 2 ½ days from the 17^th, notice that both the Sun and Moon are both Exalted during these next few days.

This is described in the Vedic literature as some of the most important days of the year!  Be sure to take advantage of these days!

PS… Hope you were able to rest, or take advantage of this last quarter of the Moon’s Waning cycle this last week.  I find the Moon’s Wanings very much like taking advantage of a better nights sleep.

As a result, the whole next time is sublime!  Like that the entire new Waxing Moon cycle will be brighter and more successful.

World’s First Jyotish Dictionary

            When I was first studying Astrology I wished that I had had a nice and comprehensive Astrological dictionary.   This dictionary will describe the various Astrological Planets, Houses or meanings associated with the most important human situations and all the words of the alphabet!

            One can use this Dictionary to study the Astrological meanings of all the Astrological Planets, Houses, Signs of the many Astrological components.  One can also use this Dictionary to look up the Astrological meaning of any number of important human words, qualities, characteristics or situations.  Here’s a sample of the dictionary.

            Feel free to look over all the many words beginning with ‘A’.

A

Abnormal

            Means out of balance, and the Astrological concept for abnormal comes from the word:  “malefic”.  When something’s out of balance, weak, undeveloped or abnormal it is called being malefic.

Absolute

            12^th House’s ‘Highest’ value is ‘absolute’ and therefore stands for Enlightenment and represents the end, fulfillment and the Absolute Being.  All other Houses refer predominantly to the Relative existence.

Abstinence

            Abstinence relates to Celibacy, Sexual Planets include Mars & Venus representing the two main planets of sexuality.  Rahu too is related to sex including perversions. 

Abundance

            Abundance is a positive or Benefic quality.  Jupiter is the primary planet of expansion, progress and abundance.  When Moon is Full too it represents a time of Moon, emotional abundance, and fullness.

Abuse

            Abuse is often related to negative or malefic Mars influences or affects.  This Mars abuse can be of a Self or self-worth nature, physical or 1^st House characteristic or a sexual or 8^th House nature.

Accident

            Accidents, too, are one of Mars’ most typical effects.  When Mars is found acting negatively or malefically, then accidents are the result.  Especially when Mars is either in the 1^st , 4^th, 7^th and 10^th Houses, sometimes an accident prone nature is the result.  Accidents are the chief sign of Mars being out of balance.  The chief symbolism here is to realize that one is using Mars’ inappropriately and what Nature is trying to show us is that we need to improve our Mars’.

Accurate

            Accurate is often a Virgo word.  The Planet Mercury is in it’s best place or Exalted in Virgo.  Quite often people with Mercury or even other planets in Virgo enjoy an accurate nature or characteristic.

Accused

            Mars is the primary planet of being accused or accusing others.  Mars is the primary planet of ‘blame’.  Whether one is guilty or not depends often also on the quality and situation of one’s righteousness, spirituality or Jupiter.  Mars blame is one of Mars’ most chief and yet confusing symbolisms because when we’re accused, blamed and especially victimized then we tend blame others.  However, because of the law of karma, even being blamed is our own creation.

Acid

            Having acidic remarks is often a Virgo quality.  Especially if Venus or Moon are found in Virgo and also associated with Mars, then an acidic tongue can result.

Acquire, Acquisition

            Acquire is both a Mars and a Jupiter word.  Jupiter is the primary planet of expansion, progress, and acquiring.  Also the 11^th House is the House of gain and acquiring or fulfilling.  Finally, Mars is the planet that desires, moves and seeks to acquire or achieve.  Depending upon how strong one’s Mars is, one gets what one wants.

            Though, there is one other aspect to ‘acquiring’ and that is our Saturn.  We desire and acquire through our Mars and Jupiter’s but how deeply anchored we are within, in our Saturn’s is also an important ingredient.

Active

            Mars is the primary symbolism of being active.  If one has a strong or dominant Mars somewhere in one’s chart, then one enjoys being active.  Also, if Saturn is weak or undeveloped then activity tends to dominate.

Adaptable

            Moon is one of the chief planets of adaptability.  If one has a ‘good’ or strong Moon then one is more empathetic, understanding and adabtable. 

Addict

            The chief planet associated with addiction is Rahu.  Rahu’s chief symbolisms are obsessions, compulsions and addictions.  If Rahu is strongly or negatively aspecting any planets or the 1^st House then one can have addictive tendencies.

Adjust

            See ‘adaptable’.  Moon is the primary planet of adjusting.

Administration

            Administration is the quality of organizing.  Both qualities are due to a strong Mars’.

Admire

            Admire or admiration is a Venus characteristic.

Adore

            Adoring too is a Venus benefit.

Adult

            Planets in their later degrees often are called adult or mature.  Also, strong mature or adult characteristics are due to a balanced or developed Saturn.

Adultery

            Adultery is often a Rahu negative aspect.  Also a number of negative planetary influences upon either the 7^th House of partnerships or the relationship planets Mars and Venus can result in the tendency to choose adultery.  Often too, some challenge with Jupiter righteousness results in adultery.

Advance

            Advance is a Jupiter expansive, progressive quality.

Adventurer

            Adventure is a definite Mars characteristic.

Adversary

            Adversary is also a Mars condition.  The word adversary like competitor are Mars adjectives.  Also, the 6^th House of conflict, law and legal disputes may also result.

Advice

            Jupiter is the primary planet of advice and counsel.

Advise

            Jupiter is the planet that advises.

Advocate

            Mars is the primary planet of those who are crusaders, entrepreneurs and advocates.  To advocate is to stand up for oneself, to crusade or advocate.

Affable

            1 : being pleasant and at ease in talking to others <an affable host>
2 : characterized by ease and friendliness <an affable manner> Quotes from website dictionary: http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/affable  Once you know what the meaning is for any word, you can begin to hear the Astrological planet that’s involved.  In this case:  ‘being pleasant and ease in talking, and friendlienss’ are all good Moon qualities.  If some one has a good and positive Moon in their chart’s then one of the signs of that will be an ‘AFFABLE’ nature!

Affection

            Affection is a definite Venus quality.  Those with good Venus’ are naturally affectionate.  Moon is the primary planet of giving and emotion while Venus is how we express our feelings.

Affectionate

            Someone who’s affectionate often has a positive or benefic Venus.

Afflicted

            Means negative in some way.  Word to connotate that the natural strength of any planet is dimished in some way.  The natural ‘aspects’ of Astrology indicate not only how the planets are aspected or influenced, but when negative, especially, how afflicted, (or diminished.)

Affluent

            Affluence is definitely a Jupiter characteristic.   Where poverty is a Saturn quality affluence is a Jupiter one.

Agile

            Agility is definitely a good Mars’ characteristic.  Those with good Mars’ are dynamic, with good coordination and agility.

Agnostic

            Being an Agnostic is related to one’s spirituality.  If Jupiter or Saturn are weak a lack of faith or agnostic tendencies can result.  Also, the 9^th House is the primary house of God, religion or spirituality.  If either the primary spiritual planets or houses are weak or undeveloped then being agnostic can result.

Agreeable

            Agreeable is often a positive Libra characteristic.  Libra stands for harmony and balance and being agreeable can be the result.  Also, strong Venus tendencies can make one positive or agreeable.  The opposite quality of being disagreeable is due to Mars.

Agriculture

            Saturn is the primary planet of agriculture.  Also, people with strong Taurus tendencies can enjoy being out of doors and being in the agriculture.

AIDS  Breakdown body’s human immune system

            Disease is ruled by Saturn, and the 6^th and 8^th Houses.  Specific diseases of the immune or nervous system are related to the specific planets or rulers of your health houses.

Alcoholism

            One of the primary symbolisms of Alcoholism is Rahu.  Alcoholism is often related to the 2^nd House of food and inhaling.

Alertness

            There are two primary qualities of alertness.  Intellectual alertness is due to a good, strong or positive Mercury.  Also, a strong or ‘large’ Moon in one’s chart is indicative of alertness.

Allergy

            Allergy is related to dis-ease, disease, Saturn and such symbolisms of immune system.

Alliance

            Alliance is a strong Libra characteristic.  Libra seeks harmony, balance and allegiance.   Some good Planets in Libra can give the ability to appreciate alliances.  Also, the partnership Planets including Venus and Moon can also be responsible for seeking out alliance. 

Almighty

            God, almighty, eternal, invincible are all good characteristics of Jupiter or the 9^th House.

Alone

            Aloneness is a definite Saturn characteristic.  Those with strong Saturn’s, aspecting any number of situations, Houses or Planets will have a alone nature of shyness.

Aloof

            Aloof is a feeling a state of mind.  Sometimes Planets in Aquarius are described in ‘aloof’ terms.  There are a variety of Planetary configurations that can be described in this way. 

Altar

            Altar is the place of worship.  Altar is obviously a spiritual quality so look to a good Jupiter or strong 9^th House of Spirit, Religion and Spirituality.

Altercation

            Altercation is another Mars adjective.  The Malefic or Benefic nature of the ‘altercation’ will help us know who might be at fault and who is to blame.

Angel

            Angel is an instrument of the Divine.  Angel is a good Jupiter quality.  Someone who has a strong, healthy or developed Jupiter will act like an angel.

Anger

            Anger is an excess of Mars energy.  When Mars is out of balance or acting malefically ‘anger’ is one of the results.  Therefore, Anger is one of the Astrological Signs that Mars is out of balance.  Try to see the difference between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ anger.  Anger that is accompanied by deep silence may be good.  Anger, which overshadows us, and causes more anger, animosity may be due to a Malefic functioning Mars.  Try to see the difference between the Mars intensity that stands up for ourselves and the Mars intensity that feels rage, animosity, blame and anger.

Animosity

            See ‘anger’ above.  Animosity has a slightly more Philosophical Marsish quality.  Sometimes when one feels right in one’s anger, that anger can be described in terms of animosity.

Antagonistic

            Antagonistic has a slightly malefic connotation to it.  Look, therefore for a functioning Malefic Mars to help one discover if one is right or wrong in that quality.  Also, a Marish or Scorpio crusading nature can make one slightly antagonistic.  Again, look to see whether one has a righteous Marsish role in life or whether a Malefic functioning Mars is at fault.

Anxiety

            Anxiety is obviously a mental or emotional state of mind.  Anxiety is often a word associated with states of mental or emotional Moon problems.  When one is out of tune with one’s Moon, or one’s Moon is small and often times Waning, (or getting smaller), one is prone to worrying or states of anxiety. 

Anxious

            Anxious is the condition of anxiety.  Sometimes one has a shorter period of anxiety and one is only lightly distressed or anxious.  Again, it tends to be a negative Moon sign.  Therefore, next time you find yourself worrying or anxious, perceive this as a reflection of one’s Moon, mind instead of do to something outside of yourself.  I prescribe often ‘Strengthening the Moon’, for almost all states of anxiety or being anxious.  Sometimes even resting can alleviate the personal stress that is popping up as anxiety. 

Apathetic

            If optimism and careing are due to Jupiter and the Moon, then being apathetic may be due to a combination of lack of Jupiter strength and Moon.  Apathy may result from a number of Malefic Planetary configurations and that exact combination will show what Planets need to be strengthened.  Astrology contains a natural value system which interprets all of life’s negatives as due to one combination of malefic forces or another. 

Apologetic

            Being apologetic can come from both a positive and a negative place.  One can be apologetic just because one has good emotional, Moon empathy.  Or one can be too apologetic because of a lack of internal Self-confidence or self-worth.  Apologetic also has a humility quality to it, so look to a good Sun or Saturn to give the ability to admit one’s faults.

Appease

            Appease is a mental or emotional quality of reconciliation or to balance some negative situation.  One’s ability to appease may be due to good Venus or Moon negotiating skills.

Appreciate

            Appreciate is a purely Venus quality.  Those with a naturally good Venus Planet have a naturally good, balanced or Benefic functioning Venus.  One may also develop or improve one’s Venus by putting one’s attention on appreciating more.  Appreciation or ability to appreciate is the outward expressive quality of Venus.  Appreciation can be contrasted to the Moon which feels love and caring and one’s Venus which expresses appreciation.

Argue

            Ability to argue is due to one’s Mars.  If one argues in a negative or unhealthy way one’s Mars is found acting malefically.  Sometimes one has a good ability to argue due to a strong, positive or Benefic Mars or a combination of Mars and such debating aspects as a Moon combination or Virgo, discriminative quality.

Aries

            First Sign of the Zodiac.  Aries is ruled by Mars.  Aries means the first, beginnings, self-starting, aggressive and dynamic, or active.

Arrogance

            Arrogance is a purely Sun, imbalanced quality.   When one’s Sun is healthy, balanced or functioning positively one can have a ‘good’ ego without arrogance.  If one feels superior arrogance can be the quality.  In either case a malefic functioning Sun is the real reason.  The natural rules of Astrology and value system helps us discover whether one’s ego sense is balanced or imbalanced.  Arrogance is an obviously out of balance or negative ego, Self, or Sun quality.

Art

            Art is a reflection of one’s Venus.  Those with good or strategically placed Venus’ will be drawn to Art and be involved with art or even artistic.

Articulate

            Articulation is a quality of speech or communication.  Those with good Mercury intellects or 2^nd Houses of speech or good 3^rd House communicative skills are often times described as being articulate.

Artistic

            See ‘Art’ above.  Those who have Venus’ with such other planets as the Moon, Sun or Mercury often are artistic.  Also if Venus rules the 1^st or 10^th House of Self or Career one tends to be more artistic.

Ascendant

            Means that Sign that was ‘Ascending’ or rising on the East Horizon at the exact time of birth.  Sometimes called ‘Rising Sign’

Asceticism

            Asceticism is a purely Saturn quality.  Those with dominant Saturn’s, or strong 12^th House renunciation qualities often are described as being ascetic. 

Ascetic

            Someone who has the above Saturn or 12^th House qualities dominating in one’s career Astrological configuration may be an ascetic.

Ashamed

            Shame is a kind of unnatural guilt.  Shame can be good if it leads one to accept one’s mistakes or areas of improvement.  However, most of the time shame is a quality due to some feelings of lack of self-worth or good ego.  Being perennially ashamed is often not healthy and may be traced to a number of malefic functioning Moon or guilt astrological configurations.  Also, the Sign of Virgo is often associated with those with strong self-incriminating or self-critical or ashamed qualities.  In all cases once one has found the Astrological reason why one is ‘ashamed’ one can discover what one can and is supposed to do.

Asleep

            Sleep is one of the 7 states of natural human consciousness.  The 12^th  Dreams too are looked at by the 12^th House. House is often times called the House of sleep.

Aspects

            Has to do with the special ways in which the Sun, Moon, and other Planets influence each other.  Each planet influences the Planet within 30 degrees of itself.  Secondly, each planet influences or aspects the direct opposite Sign or House from where it is in one’s Natal or Birth Chart.

            In addition, Jyotish says that some planets have special other Aspects.  Jupiter aspects or influences 1, 5, 7 & 9 Houses away.  So, if Jupiter is in the #2 Sign Taurus, then it’s aspects include the 5^th House away, or 6, Virgo, 7^th House away, or 8 or Scorpio and 9^th House away or 10 or Capricorn.

            Count the Sign that Jupiter is in as #1 and then add either 5, 7 or 9 Houses away.  So, if Jupiter is in the Second Sign Taurus, then the 5^th House away would be Taurus, #1, Gemini, #2, Cancer, #3, Leo, #4, and Virgo, #5.

            Mars influences or Aspects the  1^st ,4^th , 7^th  and 8^th Houses away.

            Saturn aspects the 1^st, 3^rd, 7^th, and 10^th Houses away.

            Rahu/ketu are also supposed to have some aspects, though there is so controversy as to exactly what they are.

            My personal belief is their aspects include the same as Jupiter or the 1^st, 5^th, 7^th & 9^th Houses away.

Aspirant

            An aspirant is someone with a good or strongly developed Jupiter, disciple quality.  Also someone who’s an ‘aspirant’ is someone who’s aspiring for some kind of Spiritual development.  Strong Jupiter or Saturn planets will make one a healthy spiritualist. 

Assassin

            Someone who has a strong and powerfully placed Mars can have a warring mental nature or disposition.  A professional kind of military person or assassin may find their strong Mars in or associated with the 10^th House of career.  Again one’s positive or negative aggressive tendencies will be determined by the positive or negatively Astrological placed Mars planets.

Assault

            To assault someone depends upon a strongly placed Mars.

Assertive

            Being assertive is a positive Mars characteristic.  One’s ability to stand up for oneself is also due to Mars.  Sometimes one’s assertiveness is also related to one’s Sun or self-confidence.  Sometimes when one’s Sun or Moon or undeveloped or weak one has a lack of ability to assert or stand up for oneself.  If one wants to be more assertive one only has to find the Astrological reason why assertiveness is lacking and then strengthen that weak or malefic functioning Planet.

Asthma

            Asthma is a lung or respiratory problem.  In Astrology one’s lungs or respiratory abilities are due to both one’s Jupiter, (primary planet of breath), and one’s 4^th House, (the House of lungs).

Astrologer

            Someone who practices the Knowledge and Science of Astrology, professionally.

Astute

            Astute is a mental adjective due to a clear Moon mind or discriminating Mercury.

Atheist

            Atheism is the belief in a lack of God in life.  This may be due to a weak Jupiter or Saturn or an undeveloped 9^th House of Spirit, religion or God.  Knowledge of God will turn any atheist into a believer. 

Athletic

            Being athletic is due to a good or strong Mars or 5^th House of sports.

Atrocity

            Something of an atrocious nature is due to a combination of Mars qualities and a lack of Jupiter righteousness or spiritual or religious value judgement.

Attraction

            Attraction is due to Venus.  Attraction is also a sign of Astrological mental, emotional or physical compatibility.

Audacious

            Someone who is outgoing due to a strong Moon or Sun may be described as audacious.   Also, a strong Mars is often found accompanying as well.

Authority

            Someone with a good or powerful Sun or 9^th House of God, Spirit, Dharma may be described as being an authority.

Aversion

            Is a word used to describe the state of mind which is repulsed by something else.  Aversion is sometimes used when two people are incompatible, or there Planets are adverse to each other.

            Aversion sometimes is use in Astrology to mean negative.

Avert

            One’s ability to ‘Avert’ the dangers on the horizon is an essential characteristic of Astrology.  One’s ability to avert depends first on an ability to see into the future or predict.  Once one is able to see, then one can learn to do something so one can change or avert any negative future karma or reality.

Ayanamsa

            Ayanamsa is the Sanskrit term for the longitudinal difference between the tropical or Sayana and sidereal or Nirayana zodiacs. It is defined as the angle by which the sidereal ecliptic longitude of a celestial body is less than its tropical ecliptic longitude.  I’m quoting here from this website dictionary: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayanamsa  Basically, this means the difference especially, between the Mathematics of the Western and Eastern charts.  There’s right now a 23 degrees difference between the two.

Awake

            Being ‘awake’ is a mental, or Moon quality.  When one is alert or strongly conscious then one can be described as being awake.  Wakefulness also depends upon one’s state of rest or recuperation.  Those with good or strong Saturn’s often times appreciate the value of rest more and as a result create more wakefulness or ‘awake’ ness.

Awe

            Awe is a Jupiter quality due to a strong, positive or well placed Jupiter.  Those with good or dominant spiritual or Jupiter characteristics often experience ‘awe’ or reverence.

“The Importance of Saturn”

            Like many people, Saturn was a functioning malefic in my birth chart many years ago now.  My Jupiter technically was better and so I had a strong philosophical and even spiritual thirst only no appreciation for the practicalities of life.  They say that early life is ruled by Mars and from 35 on, Saturn kicks in.  Well, believe me, when I first began appreciating Saturn my life definitely improved!

            Today, my first goal of each day is to grow within Saturn’s nature.  Because Saturn is the most important planet.  We us it everyday!  If we don’t have enough of ‘it’ then any number of its classic negative qualities come our way.  If we don’t run to work in an integrated enough way we can have an accident!

            If we’re impatient we can miss that call which we were waiting for but finally couldn’t stay and rushed on to our next assignment.  If we feel frustrated with the slow development of life we literally are creating frustration which is in fact, pushing the fulfillment of desire away longer!

            Ever watch the water draining out of the tub or sink?  Watch it some time.  It spirals down in a beautiful, orderly and timely way.  If you get impatient and want to speed it along the natural inclination is to push the water towards the rain.  But, what happens is that extra push actually slows down the rapid pace of the water down the drain!

            Life and Saturn is like that.  We created our actions.  We’ve performed all our actions and now we’re waiting for that natural return.  One of my Gurus used to say:  “We only have control over action alone, not over its fruit.  All our actions go out and strike the entire universe and they’re returning at their own pace.  We don’t have control over when they come back.  Therefore put attention on better actions each moment.  That alone will be the best thing to create maximum best returns.”

            I have thought of this constantly over the years.  Even before I heard about Saturn I was beginning to appreciate this important idea.  In the West we have a similar phrase.   “The watched kettle never boils.”  In other words when you’re being impatient and hanging over that boiling pot it seems to take forever to boil!  Why because we’re pushing that natural time that is necessary.

            If you ever want to speed up that boiling, just put your attention on something else, and boom that pot is found boiling and you hardly noticed the time go by.  I have the same experience with my computer opening up every morning.  It takes about 5 minutes and when I’m eager to get back on-line and start communicating again with my Jyotish students, (a very good goal one might think, he he) however, when I sit there waiting hungrily for that waking up, it seems to go and take forever.

            I’ve learned however, if I go and do something else for those few minutes instead of hovering over my boiling pot of a computer; immediately I find those 5 minutes rushed by and the computer is ready.

            In this article I thought it might be helpful to discuss more theoretically the full potential and nature of Saturn.  Because most of us are not understanding the importance and every minute place of Saturn in our lives and as a result of this mis-understanding we’re literally creating all the negative Saturn consequences that we certainly don’t want!

            For example, in addition to impatience or frustration some other classic negative or malefic ‘signs’ of Saturn include tiredness, even pain in the body.  Other Saturn signs are stress, anxiety, dis-ease, nervousness, worry, fear, and disease and pre-mature death.

            Yes, we could be increasing even our life span if we learn how to enliven Saturn’s more healthy, benefic and positive side! 

            Other classic negative Saturn signs include disappointments, losses, grief and all sufferings.

            So, how can we get out of any or all of these negative Saturn qualities?

            By learning how to find Saturn’s sweet, healthy and benefic qualities!  In other word Saturn represents “lessons of”.  So, wherever it is, whatever it’s doing it’s already trying to help us learn some of our lessons.

            But, where is it going?  We can learn from Vedic or Yoga philosophy for example, what the positive nature of Saturn is.

            Ever hear the expression “Silence is Golden”.  I remember when I first heard this growing up.  What a strange idea I thought, at the time.  Now, I understand more, the deep, powerful importance of developing inner silence.

            With silence comes the Saturn ability to fulfill all desires.  Silence, in fact, is just as crucial in fulfilling our desires as the desire or Mars action that we generally think is necessary.  For example, ever have that experience:  “Where are my glasses?”  We’re looking and looking, looking hear and looking there.  For the life of us, we can’t find our glasses.

            Then, the moment we throw our hands up in the air, and give up, we pass by a mirror in the house, and lo and behold we find our glasses’ stuck on top of our head!  Like that, every moment we’re either living spontaneously enough Saturn inner silence or we’re not.

            If we are then we have our desires and they naturally pop up into our conscious thinking level and easily find a way to their fulfillment.  However, most of the time, we find ourselves having our desires and yet it’s taking forever for them to become fulfilled.

            What does this mean?  It means we acting, we’re desiring, we’re moving towards our desires and goals only we’re not moving with enough inner quietness and that lack of inner silence is literally the reason why we’re not getting what we want!

            In the ancient Yoga philosophy one of the greatest teachers was a man named Patanjali.  In fact he was the one credited as the original founding father of yoga itself.  Yoga means union and as we create union or oneness within we gain the ability to fulfill all desires. 

            There’s even something in the field of Yoga called Sidhis or mental powers were are described as possible to develop with the development of yoga.  Some of these classic sidhis include “the power to become as small as an atom”.  Others include the ability to become as big as mountain, or as weightless as the air.  Others still include the ability to control all of one’s senses and have unhampered will.

            I mention these because if it’s possible to fulfill these most powerful of life ambitions through developing the inner power of silence then this gives us great hope that silence will help us all develop our own ability to fulfill our desires.

            In fact at every moment there’s already an intimate relationship between silence and action.  In Yoga philosophy it’s said:  “Rest is the basis of activity.”  What this means is our day’s activities literally depend on how well rested we became last nite!  So, if we want to improve our day’s goals and activities the first thing we should do is go to bed earlier the night before!

            If we want to be more of a success in our daily desires, we should learn how to have a more powerful and successful sleep the night before.  For example, Ayurveda says the most important hours of sleep each night are the hours between 10pm and 2am.  (See Google search: under Ayurvedic cycles of sleep: http://ayurvedamed.com/methods/51/ for more information.

            Even during our daily hours each step of progress is first preceded by a Saturn step.  Try and take a step without first planting one.  It’s impossible.  First we plant one foot and then based on that stable foot our first expansion foot goes forth.  Then, we have to plant another foot and then, the opposite foot expands forward.

            Each step alternating between resting and activity represents the two stages of Saturn and Jupiter.  We first plant our foot with Saturn and then our next expansive foot happens due to Jupiter.  Saturn and Jupiter, alternating steps of expansion and contraction of resting and then expanding are the two steps of all progress and prosperity to life.

            We only have to look to these two cycles to see why we’re not getting on to our natural fulfillment of desires!  If we’re experiencing any frustration at moving toward the fulfillment of our dreams and goals then we should first look to see how deeply planted are our Saturn’s!

            Saturn represents that ‘silence which is golden’.  Silence, inner mental, emotional, and psychic or consciousness silence is the key to fulfilling all desires in life.  Even the philosophy of Yoga confirms that the key to fulfilling any desire depends on first having an enlivened inner silent quality.

            This is why the technique of meditation is so crucial in the yoga field.  We each should be meditating even for a few minutes each day.  Meditation sets the mental clock to be silent and yet awake.  When you wake up in the morning and you’re not completely refreshed from the night before, then sit back down, for a few minutes and allow the mind to go within.

            This technique of enlivening mental inner peace is a priceless Saturn technique for developing inner silence.  Even 20 minutes in the morning before your day’s activities will improve the inner wakefulness and bring more clarity of mind into your every day.

            We are today in the midst of a huge revival of this ancient science and art of meditation.  There are millions of people today who are each discovering the importance and practicality in first enlivening oneself inside.  The net result will be more mastery over your outer life!

            Inner and outer, they’re both intimately related.  Saturn is the link between the two.  If we’re not more awake to Saturn’s positive value then the outer expression of life will be full of Saturn problems.  The existence of any Saturn frustrations or negativities is a literal Saturn sign that we need to be more with our inner Saturn silence.

            How far can this go?  We only have to look to nature herself to see.  Nature is the quintessential process of expansion!  There is no project in our entire world that is as profound and amazing as this infinite pace of expansion of the universe.  The galaxies are rushing ahead expanding at a ferocious pace!  How is this possible?

            Because, Nature herself is anchored in eternal Saturn silence.  Deep within nature exists a field of limitless silence.  This state, called the vacuum state or the Unified field of quantum physics is now recognized as the true source of all atoms and molecules in the universe.

            Modern physics has found that all atoms are created literally out of the Unified Field.  They are created from there, have a life here, and then break down and return to that limitless field.  The Mathematics of Physics has shown that the energy of the quantum field is literally infinite. 

            All time and space in fact, comes from that state.  Unfortunately, modern Physics has no concept of how we might access that state.  We can’t by the way try to get to that.  Any excitation of life is a movement away from that.  Any thought, any action only takes us away.

            Therefore, if it’s going to be possible to experience that field it has to be through a natural lessening of mental and physical effort.  In meditation, for example, lies a technique for reversing and minimizing activity until the mind arrives at the source of thought itself, which as it turns out, is that literal infinite field of pure silence.

            One of my Gurus used to say:  “If you want to build a 20 story building you first have to develop a 4 story basement.”  If you don’t understand the principle of building and you see the builders first going inwards you might be confused and even yell at them:  ‘Hey what are you doing?  Aren’t you supposed to be going up!’

            That’s what it’s like in life with all of us scurrying about trying to build this or that.  All our buildings, representative of all our goals, dreams and life aspirations are due first to how deeply we’ve developed our inner basements!  If our buildings are shaky or not developing rapidly enough, there’s a good chance we haven’t enlivened our inner enough!

            However, the solution is very simple.  First, each day put attention on the development of your inner consciousness and then take more and more inner composure to your day’s whirlwind of activities.  Each day I first desire to accomplish more Saturn integration of silence.

            As a result my every next day is more and more powerful.  In addition to the each day’s rest and activity cycles, there’s also a monthly Saturn cycle as well as a Winter Saturn cycle of rest.

            Each day we need to rest.  Each day our day’s activities depend upon our previous Saturn rest.  However, each month during the Waning Moon’s cycle this too is a Saturn period of rest.  The Moon expands each month during the Waxing part.  Very few people understand however, that the key to that monthly expansion depends literally upon how deeply rested we were during the last few days of the Moon’s Waning cycle.

            Rest and activity, they are the 2 cycles of life.  At every moment we’re always in between these two.  Right now, I’m typing on my computer key board.  Each finger pressed depends upon first resting those same fingers.  Those that can’t rest their fingers enough get what is now being called such things as ‘carpal tunneling’.  Carpal tunneling is just the result of not acting, typing, with enough Saturn rest at each moment.

            Then, there’s the monthly Moon cycle of rest and activity.  Finally, there’s the yearly Saturn cycle of winter.  All the plants, species and animals of our entire World rest during the winter.  Why?  Because, rest is the basis of activity.  All the plants and species rest and then after literally months of ferocious silence we come out and enjoy the spring time.

            We’re in the beginning of one such cycle!  Well, at least in the Northern hemisphere.  However, the principle is the same.  In the Southern hemisphere, they’re now just beginning to go into winter.  This last winter I wrote a couple of articles on “Winter is Saturn”.  All the qualities of winter, cold, retardation, resting, contracting; all these are the characteristics of Saturn!

            Saturn is cold.  Why?  Because cold is orderly.  Ever go outside on a cool, brisk night and notice how enlivening cold is.  Heat, on the other hand is expansive and dissipates energy and drive.

            Then, there are a number of important Saturn moments during numerous times of each year which are the times when nature is saying:  “Be more with Saturn during these times!”

            For example, this last week, the Moon went through the Signs and aspects of Saturn.  This year Saturn is in the sign of Cancer, so each month for 2 ½ days while the Moon is passing through Cancer, this represents an important Saturn moment.  Those who are not in-tune with Saturn enough will feel Saturn emotional grief during these days.  Why?

            To show us how in-tune we are with our Saturn’s.  Over the last 6 weeks, the Sun, Mars, Mercury and Venus all went through Capricorn.  Because Capricorn is directly opposite to Cancer, this year they all were found moving through Capricorn which was being directly influenced by Saturn in the opposite sign of Cancer.

            Most people in the field of Astrology think these Saturn kinds of moments are just malefic in nature and prediction.  This is not true!  These represent important and vital Saturn moments which can be seen as opportunities for developing more and more Saturn power.

            Sade Sat is a classic 7 ½ years of Saturn grief!  NO!  This time when Saturn moves through the 3 signs all around our natal Moon’s is the time or opportunity for developing more Saturn power!  The very moment when Saturn moves to the other side of where your Moon is, you immediately feel more outward and dynamic!

            This then, will be like the Waxing Moon time, the time when we’re meant to become active and dynamic again.  During the heighth of this Saturn/Moon sade sat utilize it like you would a New Moon or rest period at night.  The more deeply we prepare and rest at night the more powerful and successful will be our next day and progress in life!

            In a few days the Sun begins its yearly transit through its Sign of Exaltation in Aries!  Normally, this is a very powerful and expansive time of the year!  However, this year, Saturn is back in Cancer, after temporarily moving into Leo for a very brief time.  From Cancer, Saturn fully aspects all the Signs of Cancer, Virgo, Capricorn and Aries.  These are the main aspects of Saturn. 

            Saturn, like every planet aspects or influences the Sign in which it is in.  That’s why every month when the Moon moves through Cancer, now, we can literally feel that intense Saturn affect.  Saturn however, has some unique other aspects which Jyotish teaches us about.

            Saturn is supposed to simultaneously influence or aspect the 3^rd, 7^th & 10^th Houses away from where it is as well.  We count the Sign that Saturn is in, as #1, and then moving into the next signs, count, 2, and then 3.  So, if Saturn in Cancer is #1, then Leo is #2 and Virgo is #3.  This means that Saturn’s 3^rd House aspect is also upon Virgo during this Saturn/Cancer transit.

            Also, Saturn aspects the opposite sign or 7^th House away.  That’s Capricorn.  Saturn also, is supposed to aspect 10 houses away.  So, we count Cancer as #1, Leo as 2, Virgo as 3, Libra as 4, Scorpio as 5, Sagittarius as 6 and Capricorn as 7.  Then, we move through Aquarius which will be 8 houses away, then, Pisces which is #9 and finally to Aries, which is #10!

            Therefore, this year, and next month as the Sun moves through it’s Sign of Exaltation in Aries, see if you don’t feel that slight Saturn affect as well.  You should feel this immediate Sun swelling of power, drive and will as the Sun moves through Aries.  Classically, I’ve found this is one of the most powerful months for me, personally.  I feel the most powerful and I accomplish the most during this month each year.

            However, these last few years when Saturn first began moving through Cancer, I could feel that Saturn influence upon my normally so happy and powerful Sun moving through Aries!  This month will be the same.  Even if you’re tired of winter, or impatient for spring to begin; still, pay attention to that Saturn flavor and this next month will be good!

            If you don’t pay enough attention to this or any of the Saturn prompts in your life, then you’ll be destined to suffer the negative results!  The choice is up to us.  We can choose either to flow with nature or try and swim upstream.  Personally, I love swimming with Saturn instead of against.

            Saturn is that part of nature that teaches us how to live life being more in-tune with the infinite silence and wholeness of life.

I just want to THANK everyone who replied to my question of what makes aHero in todays society. It's been QUITE an eye opening experience for me as I interviewed quite a few people while I was BACK in the damned hospital

Dear Elaine:  Greetings!   Sorry, I missed your good question about what makes up a hero!

If you don't mind me contributing my 2cents I wanted to share a few more thoughts more about this great subject!

One of the things I've loved the most about Jyotish is it's #1 ability to recongize the true Astrological nature of life....and people....

For example, Jyotish says those with strong 3rd Houses and/or Mars' have good courage.  Those also with good Jupiter's have strong spiritual sense and morality which of course contributes to being a hero.

If you study the charts to of leaders of society you'll see that there are a number of Benefic sources...that contribute to being successful, courageous and being a or Hero or heroine!

A Hero cares...and so some strong Cancer and/or Sun nature might be involved.

A Hero fights for what is right....and that's a definite Mars flavor....

Mars has to be benefic however, because a strong, but 'malefic' natured Mars can be a strong criminal, mobster, or bad politician.

Fascinating to me that the planets can be both symbolic of strong goodness and strong evil....

Morality then,..has to be considered.... which makes a dominant Mars...more righteous....!

For that of course, we look primarily to Jupiter....

Practical experience shows too that there are many kinds of planetary combinations that all describe various kinds of human strength, development and hero ness if there is such a word! hehe

Fun focusing on how Jyotish can identify the good in us!

In our many discussions about the essential Benefic and Malefic ness or benefic or malefic planets...we sometimes get too wrapped up in malefic problems.

So, it's nice for a change to focus on the good!

This of course, is partly due to Jupiter's present day 5th house aspect upon the Sun which is presently moving through the Sign of Pisces!

Last year when the Sun went through Pisces, it was not being aspected by Jupiter and this added morality, satvic and purity from Jupiter was not as strong as today!

Finally, one last thought...is...

that in addition to recognizing what makes up a hero...I think it's even more important to reflect on how we all can become more spiritual or courageous!

For example, Jyotish has this connotation of remedies and remedial measures.

Remedies and prescriptions, even Vedic techniques of self-development like meditation,... and yaguas.... all are really there to help us become stronger, more pure and more benfic where previously only malefic values were dominating!

And, this is one of the reasons why I like this Jyotish Remedies group so much is it gives us a focus...to think about and research and study exactly how we're meant to transform our malefics into strengths!

So, in this context when we think about what makes a hero, let's also reflect upon what is needed to become more hero like!

For example, if we are timid or shy,...then we want to look at our Mars to see if it can be strengthened!

We may also need to be strengthening our Moons if Moon is small or Waning....and too tender...or weak.....

If Mars is lacking in any way...then we can become more courageous through a very act of choice!

One of the practices I recomend to people is to study the heroic adventures of one's ancients.....

In Indian culture there are all these great heroic stories in the Bhagavad-gita, Mahabaratta and all the Vedic literature....

In the West we have the great heroes of ancient Greece....Homer, the Iliad, etc....
There are even heroes of the bible that millions of people revere...
Christ was the ultimate hero....for christians...
He stood up against all evil,...and ignornance....

Likewise...Krishna....is the ultimate hero for Hindus.......

For all of us who are not quite saints yet.... we only need to study our charts and figuring out what is lacking in our Stars...

Resolve.... to strengthend ourselves in the exact ways our charts recomend...

Wherever there is a malefic story!...RESOLVE....  to change that....
to transform....and improve your malefic....into a benefic strength!

It can be done!

This is the great hope of Vedic Knowledge...that life can be improved... and made more heroic!

Also, consider stirring one's Jupiter too,...because Jupiter gives an increasing closenss with God...which gives us the greatest internal strength!

PS... One last thing I'd like to reflect on is...the #1 Jyotish or Vedic remedy is Vedic meditation....  Meditation is the best Jyotish and Vedic remedy because it goes exactly to the real need of human life which is to have more of one's innate, unusued, latent potential.

Both in Christianity and in Vedic knowledge there is the belief that within every human being is a literal infinite human potential....

Some call it God.... some call it full human potential...however we want to descirbe it...

Heck, even modern day Physicists have discovered something they call the Unified Field...

Deep witin every atom, every molecule, every scrap of the universe,... is a literal field of pure energy.... which has already been discovered... to be limitless...unfounded and literally invincible...

This state of pure energy....or unified field being the source of every atom and bit of the creation...is that full potential that each one of us is carrying around inside and don't know about!

Those with strong and benefic planets have certain parts of us, already in-tune with this deep power and potential....

Heron ness is just a mirror reflection of some of that great inner nature.....

Meditation is the time honored tradition that seeks to find and develop that inner potential or oneness...

Modern day experience today gives witness to the fact that for the first time, millions and millions of people are beginning to get onto that great glory!

I, myself have been meditating for over 36 years...and I have to tell you, of all the things I've done to improve my life and develop myself.... all that time invested in meditation has given me the greatest benefits.....

Then, when I discovered Jyotish I learned how one could combine the power and wisdom of Vedic Pshycology...(ie. Jyotish) to the other Vedic remedies like meditation, ayurveda, yoga and yaguas.....

Now, I enjoy prescribing...wonderful Jyotish remedies,... in addition to meditation... to improve, literally any weakened or undeveloped malefic planet into a more strong and healthy one!

Now, that's becoming a true hero!

(AGAIN :() The GOOD part is it was just for a couple of days and it gave me
the opportunity to do some writing. My daughter, as I said, is on overload,
so I've basically written the paper for her. It's OK...I've kind of
developed a reputation for writing papers among my family and friends. My
fiance (deceased now), was in school (Pre-Law-->Law) and made copies of his
diplomas, whiting out his name and putting mine in--said it was a
"dual-degree for us both since I'd done as much work as he did ;) While I
have diplomas I earned on my own awhile ago, this one means more to me than
ANY of the diplomas or certifications I have. :) It looks like my children
are going to take ME to school with them also. Only fitting I suppose.
When they were young, they came to MY classes almost every day ;)

            Most people will agree that Jyotish has an uncanny ability to see the nature and reason for every imaginable human problem.  Jyotish identifies our Malefics as the true source of all our challenges, frustrations and sufferings.  For example, emotional problems, anxieties, worries, phobias, even depression is due to our Moon’s.
