Inner & Outer…
Astrology
This morning I was thinking, so often we think of our Planets only
influencing ‘outer’ aspects of our lives, we also need to
realize ‘they’ also represent our inner lives, or selves, as
well.
For example, delays in career, or disappointments with
relationships, or lack of fulfillment of desires.
All these are obvious ‘outer’ Saturn experiences so we
look at our charts to find out why. Maybe
Saturn’s moving through our 10th
House. Maybe it’s moving through our 7th
House of partnerships or maybe even moving through our 11th
House of desire or gain.
In all those examples the ‘outer’ signs of Saturn’s presence are felt by us. So, we try innumerable ways to change this situation. Eventually, we begin to realize this same Saturn situation is also about our inner life as well.
Saturn moving through our 10th House may be partly wrapped up, or noticeable in career, with delays and frustrations there, but the real lesson is inside. We’re meant to do something with our ‘inner’ Saturn, and if we do that, especially now, then that ‘outer’ sign of Saturn malefic ness will immediately go away!
This experience, alone, shows us that Saturn’s highest purpose is for an inner growth of greater balance, integraton of silence, stillness and enlightenment.
Saturn is About
Enlightenment
So, let’s discuss how we can better interpret the outer Signs of all the Planets, but in terms of their even more important and relevant ‘inner’ realities.
The Sun
The Sun’s clear ‘signs’ or consequences in the
outer include frustrations with life, with career, with lack of
self-confidence about going ahead or facing our problems. The tendency is to always look to circumstances in
the environment to justify the inner experience of a lack of inner
Self-strength or self-confidence.
But, the very moment that we realize our lack of outer
self-confidence is really a ‘sign’ of lack of inner Self; then
the process of Self, Sun strengthening can begin.
Then, taking even one step towards
strengthening that same inner Sun, we will not only find more
self-confidence within but will immediately feel more self-confidence and
strength on the outer.
The Moon
The Moon is also equally difficult to have weakened in one’s
Astrology. The Moon, almost always blames how
one feels on the outer. I’m worried or
anxious because we have no money. Or,
I’m feeling insecure because my girlfriend isn’t always there
for me. Or, I’m upset because my friend
looked at me weird, yesterday.
There are innumerable ways in which the Moon feels, and then looks
to the ‘outer’ to justify that inner feeling. I tell people all the time, whenever you find
yourself experiencing any of the outer negatives of the Moon; worry about
finances, worry about health, worry about family, work, or life itself;
stop blaming the ‘outer’ and immediately realize this is all
due, in part to your Inner Moon!
Again, the very moment that you take a step to strengthen your
inner Moon, both the inner and outer signs of Moonish weakness, will go
away.
Let’s say one already recognizes that there’s something
wrong within because of one’s constant worrying, anxieties, phobias
or depression. This is the first step,
realizing that even the innner worries are not the real
cause.
The next step, though, is to do something to strengthen that Inner
Moon. The very moment that you do that, not
only will the inner worrying subside but the outer worrying will
begin to become less as well.
Mercury
When Mercury is afflicted or undeveloped, some of the outer signs
of this are decision makings are difficult.
Also, many Mercurial communications are difficult or
unsuccessful. Because Mercury rules the
intellect and all communications, if it is weak or undeveloped then that
immediately translates with difficulties in one’s outer life of
decision makings, communications and even just simple
understanding.
One grasps or understands through the Mercury intellect. So, when Mercury’s having a rough time, we
experience it outside in our relations with others, work and in our
frustrations.
Again, the outer ramifications of a weakened or undeveloped Mercury
are just the outer signs of an inner reality that in almost all
cases is easier to change first, on the
inside.
Then, as Mercury is strengthened there, then, the outer and inner
expressions of that undeveloped Mercury will immediately
improve.
Venus
Venus, for most people is such a very important planet. Venus represents how we love and how we’re
loved. Most people then, wish they were more
successful in love. This however, is the outer
reality of the inner reality of a healthy and happy Venus.
When Venus is afflicted, weak or undeveloped, then the outer
expressions of love, relationships and affection are sorely lacking or
full of problems. The tendency of course is to
try and fix the innocent outer symptoms. We
try to get our spouses, or family members to be more loving. We tell people at work what’s wrong with
them.
Of course we rarely realize that outer love and relationships is
really an innocent reflection of our inner Venus’ loving
nature. We take even one step towards becoming
a more loving Venus person, or self, and we can immediately see that the
outer is a reflection of the inner.
Venus represents how in-tune we are with the Love potential of the
Universe. As a result of that, we love or
appreciate the Universe. The outer signs of
our lovingness however, are not the problem.
The problem is we need to develop an inner brilliant, full,
shining, and happy Venus. How to do that of
course is the key.
Mars
Mars is called the planet of
‘blame’. We receive tension from
others, we have arguments or disagreements, we even have people mad,
jealous or angry with us; and we can’t find the reason! This of course, is all our Mars stuff. The outer experiences of Mars include arguments,
disagreements, jealousy, betrayal, resentment,
etc.
We automatically assume that these things are caused by difficult,
impossible people. We even see weird, angry
and out of control Marish people so we assume they are the cause, of our
Mars grief.
The truth, however, is they too are just the innocent signs of the
inner condition or relationship with our inner
Mars.
If Mars is strong, and not misused by us, we have better success
with others; we have the ability to take care of ourselves and even stand
up for ourselves which are two of Mars most important
features.
Therefore, if you find any problems with your Mars outer life, then
look within and see if there’s something about your inner Mars that
too, needs strengthening or neutralizing.
I use the word neutralizing because Mars’ imbalance is often
an overly excessive or too strong influence.
Mars is very easy to miss use this way.
We always can pick up a club and try to solve our problems. Look at the World, today, (2006). Governments and whole nations are trying to solve
the problems of life, by being more Marish.
War is a Mars approach to the many problems of life. Mars, fighting, quarreling, disagreeing or making
war, have never solved the important problems of life. We are in a Mars educational grade and we’re
still failing drastically to understand Mars.
When Mars is miss understood, within, we find ourselves stealing,
lying, fighting, being dishonest, untruthful, and on and on and on. The very moment however, when we embrace the higher
truths of Mars, then outer signs of immature Mars will go
away.
Mars stands for courage and righteousness.
So, when we stand up for ourselves, and we stand for truth and what
is right then life becomes better. It
doesn’t hurt also, to unite a good or better Mars, to a healthy and
strong Venus lovingness too. Because the truth that is sweet is much
more palatable then the one that is bitter or forced upon
us.
Saturn
Saturn’s story also is extremely fascinating. Most people have the most difficulties with their
inner Saturn’s. When Saturn is out of
balance or un-developed, Saturn’s outer signs include: impatience, delays, frustrations, losses, grief and
suffering.
This is why Saturn is the primary planet for dis-ease, disease and
death, itself. When we’re out of tune
with our inner Saturn the outer signs of Saturn seem to be all around
us.
The key to solving many of life’s most troubling outer
experiences lies with strengthening a more positive and developed inner
Saturn.
When Saturn becomes stronger on the inner, we immediately feel
better, more rested, less tense or stressed.
Dis-ease, worry, anxieties, all go away and we feel more purposeful
and appropriate. Ever have the experience that
you find yourself at the right place at the right time? Maybe the phone rings and your best friend is
there.
“Hey! I was just thinking of
you!” “That’s funny, cuz I
was just thinking of you!”
“Ohhh…. Déjà vu” we can call it.
The truth is, we’re being more in-tune with life, with our
inner selves and the outer signs of that are there.
When we’re not being in-tune with life, our inner, silence
and stillness, then all manners of outer troubles and difficulties can be
found. We call our friends and no matter how often we try we
can't get a hold of them. "Oh, I'm sorry he just stepped
out of the office", his secretary says.
You try his cell phone, and unbeknown to you, he just slipped into the
elevator where you couldn't reach him. Curse, fate, the
universe stacked against us? No, these too are all innocent signs of
a lack of inner developed Saturn.
Of course, even when we develop our inner Saturn, the outer
turmoil’s can still be there. But, when
we’re feeling good and strong, they don’t bother us as
much. What do we say:
“Oh, that grief, just ran down my
back!”
The key to outer happiness and success depends upon an inner,
well-working strong, and powerful, healthy inner
Saturn.
Jupiter
Jupiter is one of my favorite planets because it’s the one
that takes the least understanding. This
is because such things as faith don’t depend on intellect but only
upon our inner Jupiter. Jupiter rules
spirituality, progress and prosperity in life and as such is the primary
planet for outer success and happiness.
Jupiter is also the planet of good
luck!
If however, our Jupiter is malefic functioning or undeveloped then
troubles of faith or religion or our spiritual life
dominate.
We can blame God for our problems. We
can blame our spiritual institutions or teachers.
The problem however, is with our own, inner
Jupiter.
We make just one step towards a healthier Jupiter, and all problems
will begin falling away. This is why so many
people and religions talk about the importance of faith. “Have just faith, and whole mountains
will move, for you!” is a famous biblical proverb. Faith indeed can move mountains because it’s
a reflection of our all-mighty inner Jupiter.
Jupiter means Guru, teacher, or God. As
we revere, honor or enliven the Jupiter nature of our inner existence,
then also the outer signs of Jupiter-hood will automatically
improve.
Rahu/Ketu
Rahu and Ketu are the final symbolisms of the Jyotish, Eastern
system of Astrology. They are not real
planets, but both Western & Eastern Astrology talk about the
importance of ‘them’.
Rahu & Ketu instead, represent the mathematical points in space
that correspond with the Sun & Moon
eclipses.
When Rahu or Ketu are acting negatively then such things as
compulsions, obsessions and addictions
dominate.
I like to describe Rahu and Ketu as representing the ‘desire
mechanism’, itself. We all have
desires. We want this or that. Desires are natural to life.
But, when we’re out of tune or out of balance with our
Rahu/ketu we can find ourselves where desires dominate or rule
us!
Desires are our tools, and shouldn’t obsess, control, or
dominate us. When they do, we have many weird
and unhappy consequences. Addictions and such
problems are rampant throughout the World, just because the inner
realities of Rahu & Ketu are not
understood.
We take one step towards improving our inner Rahu/Ketu and
immediately desires begin to cease controlling or manipulating us.
Conclusion
We spend these stories of Planetary influence.
They do have an amazing accuracy to individuals and all of our life
situations. However, the Planets are also,
just symbolic of our inner Human nature.
We are a multi-fascinating, complex and multi-faceted human
beings. We are an ego, emotional,
intellectual, courageous, loveing, responsible, spiritual and desire
nature person.
However, all of these different aspects of human nature are just
that, different aspects about the same, one ocean of human
nature.
Human beings are multi-faceted spiritual, mental, emotional and
physical body creatures.
When we become more balanced within, then all manners of outer
misery and troubles disappear.
It’s like some good doctors say.
“All disease is a reflection of our inner immune
system.” We do one thing to improve our
immune system and all diseases will fall
away!
Like that we improve the inner balance of all our Planets, and all
the outer expressions of the grief of them, will
disappear!
In the next chapter we’ll look at specific people’s
Astrology charts, their symptomatic problems and their Astrological
solutions and experiences.
Sincerely,
Mark Kincaid
