Re: [Cervical_Spondylosis] Thank you for being here!

I find that knitting helps me keep my fingers active and prevents them stiffening up, it also keeps my hand off the mouse when I am at the computer cos long periods of 'mousing' causes agony in wrist, arm, shoulder, neck and back

Hi all. I just found this forum and I am so grateful. Many of your
stories mirror mine. It's reassuring to know that I'm not imagining
symptoms!!

I have been diagnosed with cervical spondylosis, with a 'formanial
encroachment at c5-6 due to osteophyte formation," But my pain is
mostly higher, at the base of the skull, and the physical therapist
is getting some results when working the c1-3 areas.

I suspect this might go back to a whiplash 30 years ago, or maybe a
knock to the base of the skull (by an automobile's retracting
shoulder belt mechanism)20 years ago. In the past three years,
though, I've lost work and had a lot of PT/MRI's etc for neck pain
(w/ headaches, nerve stuff running down the arm) related to heavy
lifting and pulling on the job. I wonder how many of us had
our 'start' with an injury?

Has anyone had to give up his or her career because of this? I am
beginning to come to grips with that possibility and I'm not at all
happy about it. (I am a flight attendant.) Any success stories for
Vocational Rehabilitation?

Has anyone had a loss of motor skills? My typing is getting worse
and worse, as is my handwriting.

Looking forward to hearing from you folks. Thanks for being here!
