Hi Victor - my hustand has a narrowing spinal cord and
is in constant pain (mostly in the neck area)ant it
very much worsens when his neck is lowered or if he
falls asleep sitting up.
He has had two fusions in the last 18 months by a
neuro surgeon. His next sugery will be an Osteotomy
and fusion (five level) where they will take a bone
out of his hip, wedge it in his neck to open the canal
to decompress levels 5-7. (Hoping I said that
right.)
This operation is being done by a ortho surgeon (about
6 hrs they say) who specializes in spines. He is
having surgery at University of Chicago on July 31st.
His others fusions "didn't take" so now they are
putting in screws and a steel plate. This is the
first time he is having bone removed so we are hoping
this really helps...at least take some of the pain
away.
Sounds like your surgery is similar. We will let you
know how well he does in August....
Will keep you posted. Take care and hope you are
doing better today.
