Hi John,
I will say that the only "good" thing has been the great reactions from the people who have had to treat me when I tell them how I did it. I have been a veterinary nurse for many, many years and the night I was actually injured I had to do CPR on a Great Dane. Yes, we do that pretty routinely in an emergency hospital. Anyway, I had the first round of compressions and was OK, but woke up the next day very sore. It was all downhill from there. Within 4 days I couldn't move my neck at all and it took 8 long weeks for someone to do and MRI and tell me what was wrong. I have spondylosis from C3-T1 and all the sudden pain was because doing those compressions ruptured 5 disks from my neck to my thoracic spine. I swear I didn't feel my left hand for 4 months, just tingling where I knew my hand was. I was a miserable whench to live with while a bunch of doctors tossed me around and ignored what I said to them.
As of now I'm on mega doses of pain killers and muscle relaxers 24 hours a day. We've done 1 epidural that didn't work and will be trying a 2nd in a few weeks. They say this will stop as fast as it started, but that it could take 3-6 more months or longer. I heard those words and all I could do was cry, for about the first time since this all started.
I've not been allowed to work since March 1st, and if it weren't for college and taking the law school admission test in 6 weeks, I would loose my mind not working. I haven't not worked full time since I was 16 years old and now I'm not allowed until the pain stops.
I'm open for any suggestions from everywhere. So, what's your story?
thanks
-g
