Hello Everyone~
I joined this group a few yrs. ago but seldom post. For all of you with spinal issues of many type I can relate. I had a 3 level cervical discectomy in 2005 because my spinal canal was compressing my cord. There was no fluid at 3 levels and the MRI showed how badly my spinal cord was being flattened instead of being round. I also have other spinal conditions, they are all related I say. Since my surgery I've developed more disease and having the same type symptoms as before surgery to a lesser degree plus new symptoms. I have, depending on which Dr. I see) one or two C levels not effected. Currently throughout my entire spine I have 12 ruptured disc, all lumbar,2 thoracic and cervical DDD, cervical & lumbar spinal stenosis, facet disease that I had a 5 level rhizotomy on last yr. pain is coming back. My C-cord is now touching bone at the back. I'm not a candidate for surgery yet. Half my neck is fused now because of the surgery so I have chronic pain from all this.
I could share more but see no point. I have the deepest empathy for all of you. My quality of life isn't good. I don't know how to redefine myself as far as my capabilities go and now being permanently disabled. My mind and body aren't in sync.
My pain Dr. that works with my neurosurgeon is trying to get a spinal cord stimulator approved by my insurance Co. now for my neck. It's so bad now I have to take recover time from brushing my teeth and hair. My upper and lower spine have extremely altered my life. I like an observer of life( please forgive misspellings). Everything I do causes my pain to be worse. I live with ice packs & heating pads,Norco, Valium many, many pillows to elevate my arms & relaxation/meditation CDs.
If the stimulator is approved and helps I will then get another for my lumbar. Do any of you have a implanted spinal cord stimulator? If so please share your experience. Got to go typing also hurts me from my neck through my shoulder blades( they are of fire) down my arms to the tips of my fingers.
Wish you all the best & apologize for info overload. Take care & enjoy life to the best of your ability:-)
