RE: [Cervical-Cancer] hello there...new here..and to answer a question re dialator

Hi,
please let us know about your 6 week follow up and how it all works out.
It's great that you are taking a leave of absence. That will help in your healing too.
I can certainly sympathize with all you've been through. My divorce was final one month
before my cancer diagnosis. If you need to talk, don't hesitate to contact me at

Take care, Susan

Subject: [Cervical-Cancer] hello there...new here..and to answer a question re dialator

I was recently diagnosed with stage 1B cervical cancer the size of a
tennis ball after having clean paps forever and only missing 1 year
of a pap...I have just recently finished a course of chemo, radiation
and brachatherapy (internal radiation) and am waiting for my 6wk
follow up scan to see if it all did the trick....I am a 44yr old
mother of 4, ages 22,20,15 and 10 and when I was diagnosed going thru
a divorce..so I really have been struggling with all of what has been
going on with my life and on top of it the chemo has knocked me on my
butt...I'm very sensitive to it and have every side effect known to
man...its almost funny...so I'm taking a leave of absence from my job
which is working in a hospital...thank goodness they understand...

Now to answer your question regarding the dialator...its very
important that you use it, the radiation has narrowed the walls of
your vagina and you need to widen them again...the dialators come in
different sizes...see if your doctors nurse can give you a smaller
size and work your way up to a bigger size until it is more
comfortable for you and yes you will bleed, the walls have stuck to
one another you have to unstick them, you are way too young to end
all intimacy...this is the talk I received from all of my doctors and
I listened even though I thought "Yeah right" but, I did what they
told me. Hope this helps...
