Re: [Cervical-Cancer] hi fellow survivors

Jackie,

I can certainly relate to your story, as mine is very similar.  I was diagnosed with Stage 1B at the age of 26, as a newlywed, and also had a radical hysterectomy.  Like you, I did not have any children yet.  What made it worse was finding out that my lab and doctor had screwed up.  I simply could not fathom how I had gone from a normal pap to Stage 1B in 10 months.  Sure enough, I hadn't.  When we reviewed my "normal" pap from 10 months earlier, it wasn't normal at all.  So basically, I could have been spared the whole ordeal if that false negative had been properly diagnosed.  It would have shown pre-cancerous cells that could have been treated in a far less invasive manner and monitored closely.  Needless to say, I completely relate to your anger.  I am now 34 and I've had 8 years to deal with it, but it is still difficult.  I'm quite a Type A female, and I don't really like having choices and decisions taken away from me.   I'm glad that you are reaching out to others and hope it helps.  I really like your site as well.  Please feel free to email anytime you need someone to talk to who has "walked in your shoes".

Subject: [Cervical-Cancer] hi fellow survivors

I am Jackie and I had cervical cancer last year (glandular
adencarcinoma Stage 1B).  A year ago I had the hysterectomy and now
only go for follow up visits to the oncologist. I had not had
children yet so this has been hard for me emotionally.  I know I have
options but I am angry that adoption and surrogacy cost so much.  I
am
glad to find your site because no one in my support group has cervical
cancer.
I would like to know if this site has a moderator?  I am irritated
that salesmen and marketing people are able to post.  To end, I live
in Tucson AZ and have my own website if people are interested in the
non-profit  cancer organization I am starting:  www.poeticvoices.org

I don't believe the original list owner is alive. Her cancer was invasive and from what I can assume about invasive cancer, I don't think she survived. I had...
