Hi Jennifer!
My name is Christine and I am 31 years old.I have a 17month old sonChristopher.
I have stage 4 cervical cancer,(small cell carcinoma)...which went undetected throughout
my pregnancy.I complained of vaginal bleeding, headaches, vomiting, lower abdominal pain, anxiety, back pain.....and more! I had an abnormal pap smear 2 months after my son was born and my OBGYN never notified me,never sent me for further tests.9 months later after numorous complaints of so many different ailments,my doctor examined me and and removed 5 pollups from my cervix. They were sent to pathology and all 5 came back malignant.Because of him I have suffered extensivelyand when another doctor diagnosed me I was given 2 months to live unless with small hope the chemotherapy would work.Odds were against me. I am starting my 8th round of chemo. My tumors have shrunk more than 80% and the doctors are amazed!!! Please keep in mind that I am stage 4 which spread to my liver, lymph nodes and my spine.Chemo is no picnic, but it is working for me.Hopefully I will be in remission soon.
I wish you the best of luck and I will say a prayer for you.Feel free to e-mail me to chat any time.
Sincerely,
Christine S

Hello -
My name is Jennifer and I am 32 years old. I am a mother of three
children, Devin who is 13, Joey who is 5 and little Ava who is 3. I
also have cervical cancer - papillary squamotransitional cell
carcinoma to be exact. I am told that this is a rare morphologic
variant of the traditional cervical cancers. Is there anyone else
out there with this type? I can find little information about it on
the web and would appreciate anyone who could share their
experience. I have an appointment with a gynecological oncologist
this Thursday and I suspect that she will schedule a cone biopsy to
determine my stage. I am so afraid.
I am also angry because I have never missed a pap smear and was told
that this would not happen because of that. But apparently this
type I have is not often caught on pap smears - has anyone else been
told this? Having said that - mine was caught by pap smear which
showed abnormal results in Nov. I was scheduled for a colposcopy on
Dec 13th and got the results on Jan 6th, 2005. 7 pathologists in
Boston reviewed the specimen before coming to the diagnosis. Why is
this version so hard to diagnose?
I have so many questions..............Thanks in advance to any one
who is able to share experiences with me.
Jenn
