If I were you I would contact the Karmanos caner center in Detroit. That is where we took my mother who had squamous cell carcinoma, however she was already in the final stages at that point, the reason I say to contact them is that they offered treatment that her local doctors didn't. The entire staff their was amazing, they may even have information on their web site. There is also another great cancer center in Houston, as well as the American Cancer society.

Hello -
My name is Jennifer and I am 32 years old. I am a mother of three
children, Devin who is 13, Joey who is 5 and little Ava who is 3. I
also have cervical cancer - papillary squamotransitional cell
carcinoma to be exact. I am told that this is a rare morphologic
variant of the traditional cervical cancers. Is there anyone else
out there with this type? I can find little information about it on
the web and would appreciate anyone who could share their
experience. I have an appointment with a gynecological oncologist
this Thursday and I suspect that she will schedule a cone biopsy to
determine my stage. I am so afraid.
I am also angry because I have never missed a pap smear and was told
that this would not happen because of that. But apparently this
type I have is not often caught on pap smears - has anyone else been
told this? Having said that - mine was caught by pap smear which
showed abnormal results in Nov. I was scheduled for a colposcopy on
Dec 13th and got the results on Jan 6th, 2005. 7 pathologists in
Boston reviewed the specimen before coming to the diagnosis. Why is
this version so hard to diagnose?
I have so many questions..............Thanks in advance to any one
who is able to share experiences with me.
Jenn
