Hi Bianca,
My prayers are with you and I hope it turns out to be an easy to treat cancer. My sister has cervical cancer and since she's been diagnosed...I've learned so much about the disease. I've studied and researched forever it seems...hers is unfortunately very advanced stages but I will tell you...she ignored her paps for over a year. She is taking chemo and radiation right now and so far so good. So keep your chin up and I'm sure all will work out in your favor. As a matter of fact Biance, I'm involed in the boxing world-I shoot/film the sport and I have no idea if you know anything about boxing but I wanted to share this important message with you. There is a former welterweight champion(very well known in the boxing world...right underneath Oscar De La Hoya...this boxers name is Fernando Vargas(www.fernandovargas,com). Anyhow I was up at his home interviewing him in early July for a fight
he had coming up July 26th...I told him about my sister Carol Jean and I asked him if he'd give a positive "shout out" to her on camera. Well, he did a tremendous job and gave her so much support. The reason I asked him for this favor is because I connected "boxing" with my sis fighting cancer. Fernando has stated before that when he gets in the ring, he literally is fighting for his life and that made me think of my sister fighting to beat cancer. In fact the message was so touching the American Cancer society wants to turn it into a national cancer psa...Fernando is latin and it would go over well in that community.
You can checkout a portion of the video by clicking on at www.damnasshow.com or better yet click on the direct page at: http://www.damnasshow.com/vargas.html ,scroll down and click on the little box to your right....they both say "courtesy Tuffy", that's me. I work for a womens sporta radio show but the point is...when ypu click on the video Fernando immediately starts talking to my sister Carol Jean about koing(knocking out) cancer. He's a wonderful support and the message is very inspirational to hear. Anytime you feel down or blue or needing that extra support click on this little video and hear his message...it'll do anyone good...even me when I start feeling dwon about my sister having cancer. I am a female by the way...just my name is masculine sounding,lol...I'll keep you in my prayers.

pass this message on to anyone and I'd love to hear your feedback on this video...all the power to you in knocking out cancer, take care and god bless!

Well, I went for my colposcopy and biopsies yesterday. That had to be one of the most painful things i've ever had to go through. It was only supposed to take about 10-15 minutes, it took 45 for me. They were only supposed to take 2 biopsies, and they took 6 instead. Thats not counting the amount of times it took them to actually try to take the biopsies. They must have snipped me. I believe, 10-15 times. It hurt so bad, no numbing or anything. I hope I never have to do that again. The doc said i definetly have to go have a leep done. she said the cancer is present on the outside of my cervix. the biopsies will tell what stage its at or how evasive it is. So i get the results back on August 19th.

worked out for me too. My colposcopies were all uneventful and I'm sure I
had more than a dozen.
Take care.

Hello Bianca,
Sorry to hear that you are dealling with all this now. However, I wanted to
let you know that it might not be as terrible as you fear. I know that when
I heard the words cervical cancer, I freaked out. I was originally
diagnosed in September of 2000 with Carcinoma In Situ. The journey was a
long one, and often frightening. However, looking back I don't think the
experience was as bad as the image I had in my mind when I first heard the
word cancer.
I have had at least 10 colposcopies in the years since my initial diagnosis.
One experience was terrible, but I have decided that was because of the
insensitive and terrible doctor. The rest of my experiences, however, were
relatively easy. Usually some cramping (if a biopsy is taken), and maybe
some bleeding. By far, I think that the WORST part of all of this is the
emotional aspect. Try to surround yourself with good friends and supportive
family, and of course we are here too. Remember that you can get through
this and then just take it a day at a time.
Keep in touch with the group,
Lj

Hi Veronica. The same thing is happening to me right now. But my paps
always came out abnormal. carcinoma in cita means that there is
cancer, but as far as they can tell it is just sitting there on your
cervix. the colposcopy and biopsy will tell you how far its gone. I
go for 2 biopsies and a colposcopy next week.

colposcopy today. I was stage 3. Today I had the colposcopy and a
biopsy was also performed as the OB said there was white? on my
cervix. OUCH! My stomach hurts just thinking about it!! I now have to
wait three weeks for the pathology results. He said it may be
Carcinoma In Situ. Could that be cancer? Has this happened to anyone
else? I'm 30yrs old with three children and I haven't had an abnormal
pap since 1991. Then it was mild so no follow-up was required.
