You know the thought never occurred to me when I first got cancer that I
should be embarrassed. Later, I realized that some people might think
things, but oh well. I won't focus on the HPV side of it as it is really
immaterial. You didn't give yourself cancer! If someone gives you a hard
time, I would just tell them that they are lucky their life is so perfect.
I don't really think most people will feel that way. I think they will feel
badly and give you support. Good luck.

Subject: [Cervical-Cancer] telling relatives
Hi i'm cara, I'M 2O AND FROM bROOKLYN. iVE BEEN DESPERATLY SEEKING A
SUPPORT GROUP. I WAS WONDERING IF SOMEONE COULD GIVE ME ADVICE ABOUT
HOW TO TELL PEOPLE THAT I HAVE CERVICAL CANCER. I KNOW ITS CRAZY, BUT
I'M AFRAID PEOPLE WILL LOOK AT ME DIFFERENTLY FOR HAVING AN STD. MY
OWN FATHER DOESN'T EVEN KNOW AND ITS DIFFICULT GOING THROUGH THIS
ALONE. I FEEL LIKE I GAVE MYSELF CANCER. JUST READING OTHER MESSAGES
HELPS.
