It's really a marketing issue. I've heard of a number of "boot camp" work outs that were mostly running. When ever I workout with a private client on a track (my favorite place) I try to do a full body workout. Sometimes I concentrate a bit on one body part or movement and sometimes another. Being able to ply your trade outdoors is great!
BTW I went to Army Basic in Georgia ( Boot Camp is a Marine term).

Hi everyone,
I am newly trained & new to the business. I reside 20-30 minutes from downtown Atlanta in a small yet growing community of professionals and it just so happens that in my area there are no "advertised" boot camps being held. I spoke with the coordinator of the parks & recs in my county and she is very excited about me possibly starting a camp. It is 80/20 which I love and I have numerous parks to choose from, what I love about the county is that they do not allow two people to offer the same thing.
My question(s) is/are what is the difference between a regular strength class & a boot camp. I know boot camp are expected to be more challenging and exciting changing up daily but what else is different?? Is it a "if you can teach a class you can run a camp" theory?? Also what are the best ways to advertise a camp aside from the rec center website/flyers?? Is "fitness" camp a better title or are clients drawn to the idea of "boot camp"?
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
You get your results immediately..but I don't know about the review and flash cards. Would love to hear from anyone who's used them. I did my ACSM about 2 years ago and have a friend who is studying for it now.

Hey Penny. I use Guidelines for Exercise Testing & Prescription, Certification review book, & Resource Manual for Guidelines for Exercise testing & prescription. I really enjoyed my materials & within the first few pages I gained so much knowledge. You can look at them on http://www.lww.com & the set is about $120, I was able to get mine new on amazon & saved about $35-40.
There are 125-150 questions on the exam & you'll have 2.5 hours to complete it.

Hi everyone! Just wondering if anyone who does in home personal training has used the BOSU 3D? If so how portable is it? And also the Reebok Deck, is it portable?
I'm looking to get more equipment so that I can add more variety to my clients programs & I've been online tonight reading and researching. One thing that I found very cute is the portable training kit I've heard many recommend the Total Body gym & I'm looking to be in my own studio next year so I don't want to put too much money into equipment right now. With that said I'm looking at the 1100 & 1500, does anyone have any experience with either of those?
Sorry for the equipment, I'm a sucker for personal reviews :)
Thanks in advance,
Wasiah

Hi all,
I am working on an article for an upcoming newsletter.
I want to get your feedback and experience on it.
Canadian Fitness Equipment Companies Rip Off Fitness Professionals
The Canadian dollar has been rising on the back of the US dollar for
the last two years. With the rise in the Canadian dollar, you would
think that products would be cheaper in Canada. The Bank of Montreal
reports that Canadians are paying an average of 25% more for products
made or imported through the USA. We have heard through the media the
price differences for vehicles in the US and Canada. I decided to see
if this was true for fitness equipment in Canada.
To read more visit - http://tinyurl.com/3cbqp4
It would be great to get your feedback on the article and your
thoughts on the cost of fitness equipment in Canada and the US.

Hi Friends!
I need an important favour from all...
I am starting seminars on fitness and nutrition from November onwards,
and am very excited about this! It has been one of my passions to
share my knowledge with all and this is a very good vehicle through
which I can reach out. There are so many people out there who are
interested in leading a fitness lifestyle, however they are not having
access to the right knowledge. Many people end up injured or
disappointed by the training they get. Even the instructors/trainers
are so passionate to help people, however they find themselves
ill-equipped to assist due to lack of right information, or lack of
access to right information. Through these seminars I can reach out to
all the people who want to lead a fit life, and the trainers who want
to help others do the same too.
I am adding below a letter that I request you to forward to everyone
you know. Even if you know someone who isn't interested in health and
fitness, please forward this to them too, as they will surely know
someone who can benefit from these seminars.
This will be a great way for me to reach out to people and add
tremendous value to their lives!

I'm looking at a 1200 sq ft space to use as a fitness studio. I'm recking my brain trying to figure out the best equipment to have inside the studio. I do not want any "heavy" equipment such as treadmills, weight machines, etc. but rather stability balls, hand weights and the likes. I'm doing personal & small group training in the studio prior to 4p.m. at which time I'll be leaving out to do in home training so that I can open my studio up for more rec fitness such as Hip Hop Ballet, Bellydance, etc. too many ladies within the community are driving 30+ minutes to take these classes so their is a strong market demand. I need easy to move equipment that can be stored on the walls.
Any suggestions? I've looked at GymCor & Power-systems websites so any others would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Wasiah

Hi All,
I've recently been doing some research on a product called bodybugg. It's a
device that a person wears that tracks calorie expenditure (you may have
seen it on The Biggest Loser or featured in magazines). Along with this
device, the company also offers a nutrition log software application &
supplements that you can offer your clients as well. Although I don't plan
to use the nutritional supplements as a source of income, I really like the
idea of offering the bodybugg & logging software as a value add to my
clients.
More info here: http://my.apexfitness.com/index.php
Have any of you used the bodybugg? Any information or experiences are
welcome. Positive or negative.

How many people do you know that would like to lose a few pounds but
just can't seem to get started. This is the answer for anyone who
really wants
to take control of their health. I would like to help others reach
there goals.
My Victory path is the best diet or weight
lose plan I have ever seen.
My Victory is VERY competitively priced!
In fact, it is a blessing to anyone
who truly wants to lose weight!
Calories burned equals calories consumed = My Victory!
MyVictory is all about healthy weight loss.
I hope you will read this information and take action.
It's a proven Plan that offers a that guarantee that the correct
clinical dose
of 5 botanicals proven to curb your cravings and assist in
increasing your
calorie burn!
There are no stimulants added! Provided by a company that has been
in the
nutritional business of many years. Here is the healthy way to lose
weight that
puts you in control.
We even have a proven tech device to monitor your caloric burn 24/7
and software
to record your caloric intake simply online. So you know when the
equation is
tipped in your favor!
The arm band is critical to the process. Without it you might as
well be on
Jenny Craig as you will be playing that same guessing game everyone
else out
there is playing. No wonder people get frustrated and quit diet
programs.
OK, bottom line on why I feel My Victory is so amazing and why every
person who
has never been able to lose weight and keep it off will do both
here. Why?
Because you are in control and you can monitor every calorie that
goes into your
body and see every calorie that comes out.
Benefits of My Victory:
1. You can eat real food along with your shakes, not pre-packaged
stuff you may
learn to hate.
After the 2 weeks of jump starting your program, actually after my
first 4 days,
you will have
an appreciation for what you should be eating and what you
shouldn't.
2. You can set your limits of weight loss by deciding if you want to
lose 1
pound a week,
2 pounds or more.
3. The arm band and the system will show you EXACTLY what you burn,
when you
burn it
and how well you are meeting your intake goals. If you're a runner
you can see
the difference
between light exercise and high exercise. It will show you how many
steps you
take every day.
Finally, you can be in control. Knowing the calories burned and the
calories
consumed help you monitor your progress by the hour, day, week or
however you
like. I still find myself wanting to know every other hour if I am
in a loss
situation. So far so good! It's so easy and fun. Weight loss should
be fun.
Please contact me for more information!

Thanks so much.

HI Penny. Yes your score will be given to you after the exam is completed. I'm not sure about the flash cards though. ACSM has some additional study materials on their website & I think now, they're offerring a free diagnostic assessment. You may want to check that out before purchasing from outside them. Also it may help to find individuals who have used those study materials and found them useful.

I feel the exace same way to product line is not very good and you
would have a hard time selling those products to your current clients.
Market America is another Network markenting company - with a much
better compensation plan. The company is made up of a lot of
personal trainers doctors etc. I have included a link and let me
know if you would like more info about the company. Almost all of my

In my opinion, there is really nothing there that a personal trainer would offer a client. A coffee in the weight loss section? Gimme a break! Overall, not much to offer in the way of real goal oriented generally healthy clients. I would pass up on this post haste. Tony Little is an excitable and known person, but it seems that he is just looking to make a little extra scratch without having to lift a finger.
Looking out for ya, not trying to be harsh. Shaklee has products more geared towards meal replacement and post workout items. If you want to get into network marketing, I would look into it. I myself am just an affiliate of bodybuilding.com. They only pay commission, but the prices and product line can't be beat.

Hey Catherine, I'm going to open a studio. I feel it will be less frustrating for myself as well as for my family to operate outside of the home. My county wouldn't allow me to do so anyway by me living in a less than 7 year old subdivision which is steadily growing.
I wish you the best in your business. Keep us posted on what you decide to do.

I'm pretty sure the rates may vary by state but not much. > Also those of you who are pt's & instructors which route did you take or was it possible to do both? > Thanks in advance for your time and knowledge, > Dina > > > --------------------------------- > Ready for the edge of your seat? I'm in the same boat as you. I'm still shopping for insurance too.
What are you planning to do regarding insurance for your home studio?
I have a nice gym at home and have been considering opening that up to
clients but worry about personal liability with my home. Not sure how
to separate the two. How are you doing this?
