RE: [Certified-Personal-Trainer] Lack of Motivation for my own workouts...

What you’re experiencing is not abnormal. I too went through the same thing. After working all day in the gym, the last thing I wanted to do was spend more time in the same place. Many personal trainers have gym memberships at gyms other than the ones that they work in.

Because I don’t want to spend more time at the end of the day exercising, I have to get my cardio out of the way in the morning. Yes, is sucks having to get up at 5:15 am (and I’m sure many on this list get up much earlier than that) most days of the week, but it’s done & over with. As far as strength training goes, I’ve broken my split up into individual body parts – and will strength train when I get a cancellation or a short break in my schedule.

You’re a role model now & you can empathize with your clients when they say that they don’t want to workout – but it needs to get done. You are selling your services by the way you look, and if there’s one thing that drives me crazy in this profession, is other personal trainers who are overweight and don’t look like they take their own advice.

Good Luck!

I have been a trainer for some time now I find I do not like to write my own programs.  (Maybe because it is what I do all day long for everyone else, I don't know)  I use other fitness professionals that I know and trust and do their workouts.  Try this website for over 5000 different workouts created by many of the greats out there.  http://workoutpass.com/lfitness?site=47

Since becoming a personal trainer in May 06, my motivation to workout
(myself, not my clients) has gone. Has this happened to anyone else,
and if so, what have you done to get it back?
