Hi I live in Tampa Fl. I was in an automobile accident over a year
and a half ago. The impact from the car that hit me was so hard it
broke the front axle of my car. Before the accident, I was an active
person, ran marathons, played tennis, went dancing with my wife, and
enjoyed doing my own yardwork. I now have 3 ruptured discs, have had
2 surgeries, have reduced strength in one of my legs, have gained
19lbs and am still in a litle pain in my back and right shoulder.
I however have not given up. I went through all my physical therapy,
but now want to go back to the gym and get back at least as close to
the way I was as possible. I'm just a litle hesitant because the
therapists can't,won't or don't give me specific things I can do or
any type of program. I have a memebership at Bally's and would like
to know what kinds of things I should ask a potential personal
trainer to help me. I don't know enough myself to make my own
program and to know when I can increase what I'm doing. What I'm
hoping is to get some advice from trainers(especially if you are in
the Tampa area) who are used to workng with people who were in
accidents and/or people who were in an accident and have been able
to get back to a healthy active lifestyle. If you have any help or
advice, at this point I am open to it. Thank you.
