Re: [Certified-Personal-Trainer] Body fat question?

I personaly dont use the things because of the varid readings you get of them. I dont belive that thay are that accurate. I now that you have resently passed and very keen ,which is good ,dont get me wrong .But if you are too forwade you may scare people off. If someone is overwight thay dont need a machine to tell them. thay will know already. If you do decide to use some sort of messuring devise I would sugest that you use it on new clients .and say this is one of the ways we can keep a record of your improvments. when the figure comes up what I say with clients that are over weight is that we want you to weigh as much as possible so you can lose more  and this is what you USE to weigh now lets descuse what you are going to weigh and by when (make it realistic).I always say that i am weighing you because after a whill when you have lost weight you wont belive me when I say how much you have lost. think how you would like to be told !!!
hope this helps

Hi guys it is Rob, I am thinking about bringing my bodyfat scale with
me to the gym on my next scheduled day. I think this might motivate
people and possibly even get new clients for personal training.
However I seem to be having a difficult time getting an acurate read
off of my scale, this is a bioimpedance type scale using electricity
to get a measurement. I seem to come up around 20-24% body fat on this
scale but when I have taken my last 3 body fat tests I was 13.6% in
January and then 11% in the begining of march and finally about 3
weeks ago I was 9.8%. I read somewhere that people who are really low
on bodyfat usually come up with a incorrect reading, Do you think this
is correct? Please respond and let me know what you guys think. Thanks
Rob
