A few days a month. A 180 from when he was having a few seizure-free days a
month!
They tend to cluster. He’ll have several in one day for a couple days and
then is fine. Much, much better since he’s gone on the Felbatol. Now he
can sense them coming on and is aware that he had them. Before he would
fall and injure himself and wonder how he got the bruises or cuts!
He tried Lamictal after his long-term monitoring but developed the rash,
which is really common with that med. He’s allergic to numerous seizure
meds.
Your husband's probably irritable from not getting enough sleep!
Have you tried approaching him from the side or rear, gently talking to him?
He might not understand the words, but I'm sure he'll understand the tone of
voice. Lars always used to say he could hear someone talking but had no idea
what they were saying.
I'm sure Dr. Stahl is a really good neurologist. But for an
intractable case
of epilepsy, I strongly recommend epilepsy specialists such as at the
Epilepsy Center at Harborview. http://pcs.hmc. washington. edu/Epilepsy/ At
least get a second opinion.

Thank you for responding, Sherry. My husband has said he feels cornered too,
and so it sounds like it's the same sort of thing as your son. How often
does your son have seizures now?
My husband was on high doses of Dilantin and Tergretol for many years but is
now just on Lamictal. He still has the same amount of seizures but maybe he
is less sedated (although maybe more irritable). The Lamictal seems to cause
insomnia.
He sees Dr. Stahl at Virginia Mason. I did not know there was a regional
Epilepsy Center at Harborview.
