Hello, my name is Sophie and I just joined this group. Background: My husband is
37 years old and has had grand mal seizures for the past 20 years or so. He was
hit by a car when he was 7 years old and started having seizures when he turned
18. He has seizures about 6 times a year. My question for the group: starting
about a year ago, he started having something called a post-ictal period where
after he has a seizure, he becomes agitated and confused and keeps trying to
stand up and walk, even though he is not ready, and falls down several times. I
am worried he will get a concussion or hurt himself when he falls down. He yells
at me to stop trying to get him to stay down. Do other people experience this
post-ictal period of confusion/agitation and try to get up and walk? What can I
do? He tells me afterwards, once he is fully conscious, that he knows he should
stay down until he is ready to get up. But it keeps happening. He never used to
do this, he used to stay down until he was able to get up and walk.
