We took our step-son in a couple of times because of intractable seizures.
Usually by the time we'd get him to the ER, his seizure would be over, the
ER doc would shrug his shoulders and say "call his neurologist in the
morning"
His complex partials would last upwards of 45 minutes in what we'd call a
"cluster". He'd have definite seizures and would act weird in between them.
We always wondered if the weirdness was part of the seizure itself rather
than a post-ictal state. One lasted nearly 2 hours.
It doesn't help to be 30-45 min away from the ER!
He does have brain damage - he has cognitive issues as well as aphasia,
which could be related to the Felbatol because we see him a little "slower"
in that sense with the dose that's keeping him relatively seizure free.
He's not making the brain-to-mouth connections well and he's never done well
with the ear-to-brain connection. Lots of "huh?" and then give him a few
seconds and he figures out what we just said.
But then he's literally had *thousands* of seizures over the past 26 years.

Well new to seizures anyway.

Tania-
The general rule is to call 911 with any seizure lasting more than 5 mins
because we aren't getting enough oxygen and could ultimately cause (minimal)
brain damage. Usually this is with grand mal seizures, but if your daughter
is experiencing even complex partial (which is what I have) to the degree of
5 in an hour that would be cause for concern. What did your doc tell you?
How is your daughter doing? My prayers are with you.
