Re: mother of a 4yr old with epilepsy

Hi there, I am new to the group as well, in fact in June we just moved
back to the area so my daughter would have the extra support of her
family and I too wouldn't feel so alone (my husband refused to accepted
it at first). My daughter, now 11, was diagnosed last March with petit
mal seizures. Thus far, we have been lucky, she had responded well to
the first medicine she was given. Though we have had ups and downs with
the tweaking of the medicine, she seems to be thriving now. Actually
until recently we weren't seeing any seizures, then day light savings
came and it put her poor system through a loop. I am still unclear of
the actual events, as she was playing at grandma's house and only her
brother was present. Apparently she just started screaming at the top
of her lungs and shaking, her brother grabbed her to keep her from
falling and hurting herself. By the time grandma got there everything
had stopped and my daughter didn't know what happened, which isn't a
surprise as she never knows when she has a seizure. After she went and
laid down and fell asleep. It was scary for her brother, but I told him
he acting very maturely. She has only had a few petit mal since.
