Edgar,
My step-son had VNS placement at Harborview Regional Epilepsy Center in
Seattle, WA. He wasn't eligible for other types of seizure surgery because
they wouldn't help his type of seizures.
What your brother needs is long-term monitoring in hospital to evaluate the
seizures and then the docs can determine what the best course of treatment
is. Not everyone is helped by surgery.
Once he gets on SSI/Medicaid (and he probably could get on Medicaid before
he gets on SSI - someone will have to check the local offices - see my other
email), then he can find a good seizure specialist in Florida and get
evaluated.

Subject: [Cent_Wa_Epilepsy_Support] SURGERY
Hi, everone again.
My brother hasn't been able to control his seizures thru medicine, and we
are really looking
forward to have the opportunity to look into surgery. We've been readin
about it from
different sources, and the success ratio seems to have moved up from 10
years ago.
It seems that technology is advancing favorably in this field.
I was hoping to get some input from someone who's been thru this procedure.
Thanks,
Edgar
