Wow, if Lars had only 1 or 2 seizures every month, he'd consider himself
seizure free! A couple weeks ago, we were at DisneyWorld in Orlando. He had
over 40 seizures that week! Three were falls we didn't catch, several were
ones that we did catch - he would have been on his noggin' if we hadn't held
him up! Of course, we realize that travel is stressful and he doesn't do
well with early morning hours or heat and humidity. Imagine trying to get
someone postictal through security at the airport <g> Sometimes he can go
for a week with just a couple of seizures (a week with less than 10 is a
good week!), other times he'll have maybe 15-20 during the course of the
week.
His came on just as we was starting puberty. His grades fell dramatically -
on achievement tests he was in the 80-90%-ile before he started having
seizures and after that, they dropped to the 30-40%-ile. He has a real hard
time with comprehension and focus at times. When he's having a good day,
he's pretty coherent, but still can have a hard time getting his thoughts
out.
His group home does a great job of logging his seizures for us so we can
take them to his neuro when he gets his quarterly check.

Welcome Sherry! I hope you find the support your looking for h ere. I
started this group as a way for us to hook up between meetings, but it seems
we're all so busy we never meet anymore. I'm in Yakima, but anyone is
welcome. I have a 13 year old girl with E. She's had it since she was 10
months old. She's still not controlled. 1 or 2 seizures every month.
She's pretty much a sassy 13 year old. Slight learning disability with
average grades, though it's a very difficult age to have seizures. We try
so hard to let her live her life, but it's hard. She takes Keppra and
Zonegran also.
Take care and hope to talk to you more soon.
Sue
