Re: [Cent_Wa_Epilepsy_Support] Hi everyone

Hi Emily,

We tried Lamictal twice.  Granted - my daughter was only 4 at the time, and 8 the second time.  Can't really tell you if she had less seizures with it.  After she had taken it for about 2 weeks both times, she got dizzy just like a drunken sailor.  Couldn't even sit on the floor.  I do know Lamictal is a wonderful drug.  Lots of people take it with little to no side effects.  My daughter now takes Keppra and Zonegran...but her seizures have not been controlled in the last several months.  We did have a 10 month hiatas from grand mal seizures, but that ended in March with 2 seizures, one in July, 2 in September and 1 in October.  She goes to Children's in Seattle on 11/30 for a new MRI they just installed that is new technology (there's only 4 others in the US).  We're trying to find the cause of her seizures...cuz we all know that they are just a symptom of something else going on!  Wish we could figure it out.

Best of luck to you and your husband,
Sue
Yakima

Hi Sue,
Thanks for your response! So the Lamictal really can
have side effects...I thought I was going crazy. I'm
still taking it but it's making me exhausted--to the
point that I've been missing a good deal of work,
which in turn is stressing me out beyond belief. I
live on Queen Anne. I also have to drive a lot for
meetings for my job, which obviously needs to stop.
The first seizure I had plowed me into the median
doing 50, totalling my car, breaking my leg and
fracturing a disc in my spine. I'm just glad that no
one else was hurt. Can you tell me more about your
daughter's side effects to the Lamictal?
I hope she's feeling alright. This group is a great
help to me.
Thanks!
Emily
