Description

The fundamental distinction among Christians is not between Catholics, Orthodox and Protestants, but between those who believe that Christ is the Son of God and those who do not believe this Fr. Cantalamessa

This group is for Catholics and other Christians with mental illness (bipolar, ADHD, depression, OCD, panic, alcoholism, etc). We aim to be inspired and guided daily by the most important commandments (Mk 12:28-30) in intentions, words, and behaviours, as well as by the life and works of Pope Benedict XVI and the homilies of Father Cantalamessa.

Like St Paul, we believe that rules without love are a clashing cymbal; like St Augustine, we believe that self-indulgence is the enemy of God; and, like St Thomas Aquinas, we believe that pride is the beginning of all sins. For these reasons, we give unsolicited advice and correct one another with love and mercy, rejecting self-assessment as the main/sole source of evaluation of one's behaviour.

We think that mental illness is a biopsychosocial disorder in need of an individualized treatment composed of effective medications, psychotherapy, education and self-help.

We accept our sufferance as a Cross we must bear but we also believe that not trying our best to overcome our difficulties is not respectful toward God. Although we believe that we need the Lord's Grace in order to improve ourselves, we also believe that we must do the works to keep the Faith alive. When it comes to mental illness and everyday struggles, we acknowledge the importance of helping ourselves by sharing methods to find solutions and solve problems.

We are open to Christians from all denominations who agree with these focal points and are willing not to disrespect the Church. We welcome all sorts of doctrinal and scriptural questions to our Faith. Finally, we encourage fellow Christians to post Christianity-related materials and devotionals.
