We are the parents of children with mental health problems. We all live in the Capitol Area of Pennsylvania. We are here to support one another and to share parenting ideas. We are here to help each other cope with the unique problems of parenting a child who suffers from mental illness. We may be the natural parents, adoptive parents, foster parents, aunts & uncles, or grandparents caring for a child with mental health problems - no matter what our title is, we are in the role of parent to a child with a psychiatric diagnosis.

Some our kids have had to be placed out of the home in either foster care or a psychiatric children's hospital. Some of our kids are able to remain in the home. Some of our kids have to attend a special school. All of our kids require special parenting. We are not here to judge but to help one another as parents. Each of us are going through our own unique circumstances.

Some of our kids have one diagnosis and some have multiple diagnosis' that may include autism, bipolar, reactive attachment disorder (RAD), oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS), pervasive developmental disorder (PDD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), schizophrenia, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), borderling personality disorder (BPD), eating disorder, anxiety disorders, panic disorders, phobias, and other psychiatric disorders.

To prevent spammers all new members are on moderation when they first join. What is said on the list stays on the list, unless specific permission has been given from the parties involved to discuss it elsewhere (ie: someone may know someone not on the list who can help another parent) - and then we ask that names/screen names are kept private. We want this to be a safe haven for members to vent if need be as well as ask for help.

Currently we are an online list only, possibly in the future we might have regular meetings or family events.
