Description

A forum on the use and ongoing development of the Canadian Taxonomy of Human Services. All enthusiasts welcome!

The Taxonomy is based on the AIRS/211 LA County Taxonomy of Human Services (www.211Taxonomy.org), which also has a busy discussion board at: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/AIRS_Taxonomy

Around the corner is the near completion of another version in French, the Taxonomie canadienne des services humains. Far from 'just a translation', it is being developed by a strong team working at: http://cf.groups.yahoo.com/group/taxonomieAIRSfrancais

Full information on InformCanada's decade-long Taxonomy initiative is at: http://211canada.typepad.com/canadian_taxonomy_news

A major current focus is the conversion to the bilingual Taxonomy across the Ontario I&R network through to the spring of 2008, as part of the 211Ontario.ca Project. The Ontario Taxonomy Guide, the Thesaurus-to-Taxonomy Crosswalk, the Ontario starter term list, and other resources are available via pass-word at: http://www.findhelp.ca/Ontario/

"The most complete, almost encyclopedic taxonomy I've encountered covering a subject domain. It shows how a well developed taxonomy can enable learning and guide searchers to unforeseen, yet highly relevant topics." - Linda Farmer, Second Knowledge Solutions
